You could be right, but from various reports, he has been unhappy for some time. The club is in debt, he has had no money to spend and the owners have given no information on the way forward. Recently all the top management have left. Lambert has an option in his contract to leave at the end of this season, which he is taking.

the fact he says he will consider it after saying he would not touch it, has to have something in it.

Regarding the Celtic vacancy, Lambert has said: Great club, eight great years there, wonderful moments, great great club. But...at the minute... i'm back to square one where I was after Aston Villa.

Looks like it is Lamberts if he wants it. Moyes and Rodgers are out of our reach and they can't be seen to go down a level or 3 to the SPFL therefore from what is left and within our reach I would be happy with this. We are a big club in a small league so we should not kid ourselves that the likes of Moyes or Rodgers would want to manage in a league where there should be no competition and their reputation can realistically only be damaged further.

I really hope it isn't Lambert, I personally don't rate him as a manager from what I've seen of his teams.
BUT in saying that IF we aren't going to push the boat our for Moyes or Rodgers then he'd probably be a better option than Lennon/Stubbs etc.

Lawwell is too tight to pay any compensation so wouldn't surprise me if he found out about this clause and pushed him too do it

Why is Keane any better than Lambert?

I just think Keane has a better fiery character that the club need, Lambert although a great player for us and one of my heroes growing up comes across dour as * and his Villa side were awful, not seen much of his Blackburn side but I gather by the league position there not much better

Do people on here really believe that Moyes or Rodgers would entertain this job? There is no way it will enhance their reputation because we are expected to win the league and we don't have the cash to splash on the CL to give us a decent chance of getting out of the group if we were to qualify. Dreaming is one thing but we all need a reality check sometimes and the reality is that we will be lucky to get a guy that has the experience Lambert has. I'm not saying he's the be all and end all but the reality is maybe he is the best we can get.

I * hope it's not Lambert, be * * if it is. Shows no ambition from the board whatsoever.

Fair enough mate, but this is what winds me up about the support for Keane. His managerial record is similar, and arguable worse than Lambert's. Ultimately the only thing Keane has going for him vs. most other guys mentioned is that he's 'fiery and won't take *'. If anyone thinks because Keane is a bit nuts he's going to walk into the Celtic board room and they're going to hand him £10million they are really mistaken. Just like every other manager, he'll walk in with a temper and walk out without a job, and I personally think Keane would walk out on us when the * hits the fan.

Done nothing to deserve the Celtic job.

The clamour for Moyes or Rodgers had me looking at their European exploits and barring one season at Man Utd for Moyes where he got knocked out the CL by Bayern in the quarter final both their records are pretty dismal.

If everyone is downplaying domestic success for us as a given then they will have to be judged by their European exploits & it doesn't look very promising from either of them.

The budgets they had compared to some of the teams that beat them makes our loss to Malmo/Molde look trivial. Moyes at Everton getting beat 5-1 off Dinamo Bucharest, * sake!

This is what worries me too. They'll spend a *-tonne of cash they haven't earned and they won't produce results. Mid-table - Upper EPL? Moyes or Rogers are your man. High Pressure clubs & tactical European battles? Both men have been found wanting.

If Celtic joined the EPL tomorrow Rogers or Moyes would be perfect.
