I'd agree with that. Not a great appointment at all, or one anyone really wants but could do a decent job..

I wouldn't take too much notice of the betting swing. If it's only just been announced he's leaving, the bookies will be putting 2 and 2 together and have probably had a betting increase on Lambo..

Wonder if he'd bring Tony Watt back up with him :fear:

Lambert still 8/1 with Betfair Sportsbook if anyone's interested.

There's been some amount of gambles on this outcome.

Did Lambert specifically say he hated the Glasgow goldfish bowl when asked about our vacancy before Ronny at some point?

Why would he want up if that was the case. I'm pretty sure he said it..

The idea of Lennon is a funny one. I wonder who has the power? He gives the board an appointment that ticks a lot of boxes: he proven he can be successful; he's a Celtic man; a fan favourite; he'd be able to hit the ground running. In many ways he the safe (even if a little uninspiring) choice. And after an 'experiment' for two years maybe safe is good. He also showed he's willing to walk away if the board don't support him with a decent budget, and that's what's good for us.

Unless, the board think he's now had a taste down the other end of the table and it's not been quite the cushy number he had at Celtic. He might not have many other
Offers so they see him as the cheap option.

I'd be happy with him returning. I think he has unfinished business in regards to competing against a strong Rangers side over time. I liked his style of play and he made some
Inspired signings. Also have a lot of time for what he has to say in general. Not to mention he took us further up the CL than any other manager before him making the knock-outs two years running. I'd get him back in. Call back big Johan if possible. Give him a decent kitty and let the boys get to work.

    Cant see it myself.

    His record is meh.

Did well with back to back promotions with norwich, they put him into their hall of fame, then sacked him 2 seasons later after some truly awful results. his record with both villa and rovers is abysmal.

plays a counter attacking game with no possession abd has been constatntly accused by fans from ALL of his clubs of having a one track tactical mind with no adaptability.

    Nope. Sorry Lambo.

Paul Lambert has quelled talk of him returning to Celtic to replace under pressure Tony Mowbray in the near future - or at any time in his career. The Norwich City manager, who captained the Hoops' 2003 Uefa Cup final losing team, says that the thought of managing in a stale Scottish Premier League holds no appeal to him.

Many Celtic fans have talked up the chance of their former midfield stalwart, a Champions League winner with Borussia Dortmund, returning after cutting his managerial teeth in the English leagues with the Canaries, Colchester United and Wycombe Wanderers.

His Norwich team are currently leading the way in a competitive League One following their relegation last campaign. With promotion a strong possibility, the 40-year-old is forging a strong reputation for himself in England and has disappointed a hopeful Parkhead support by saying that the lack of competition in the SPL is partly to blame for his desire to manage outside of his home country.

"I had eight terrific years at Celtic but there comes a time when you have to cut your ties," Lambert told the Daily Record. "I still look for Celtic's result and Seville will always remain the biggest disappointment in my football career. But the idea of coming back doesn't appeal to me.

"I mean no disrespect to Scottish football but England is just a bigger place. I'm proud of my Scottish heritage but a move back home is not for me.

"The idea of playing the same club anything from four to six times a season doesn't appeal to me."

I fear that Moyes and Rodgers names are only being touted about so much and pushed (perhaps by us in some backwards way) purely to get fans to sign up when the renewals are due in.

We do it with players all the time, early in a transfer window we manage to leak exciting names and hot prospects. A few wildcards etc, then in the last two days of the window after weeks of excitment and not signing these players, we end up with complete let downs.

I expect Rodgers and Moyes will sign up to other clubs by mid june, as will Lambert as the month goes on, and then by the end of June we announce Stubbs as a manager after his Cup win and playoff promotion makes him look like a messiah in the eyes of our board.

Lambert ticks a good few boxes- ex celtic player and captain, used to working with tight budgets and trying to find a gem i.e benteke, decent track record, fans and players will instantly respect him- ex champions league winner and is available to work straight away.

Very much doubt we're talking to Moyes, and I doubt he'd be interested unless he was out of options. A lot of jobs will become available in the next couple of months, where he'll have a lot of money to spend to try and repair his reputation. It all depends on whether those clubs are interested in a guy like him.

As for us, I think it'll come down to a few realistic candidates like Clarke, Keane and Lennon, with maybe a couple of out the box types being interviewed. In the end up I think the board will give Keane the assurances he wants and he'll take the job. :54:
