If these rumours of Moyes are true then he won't be coming here unless he has been made certain promises regarding budget and control.

The powers at be know we are all * off, time to see if they want to listen.

I would rather Moyes, if he takes the job, brings his own youth coach in. Seem to be a lot of talent coming through in Merseyside. Could use his contact down there to bring in a higher standard of coach. Our young players seem to struggle to make the step up to first team level, it needs looked at.

Aye, true. Moyes here and with his own background team, would be a fantastic coup from DD. I'm holding off on the massive celebrations just yet though. Until I see it confirmed, in writing. I'm remaining dubious.

If Moyes comes, I'd imagine he's been given assurances about the transfer budget, that in itself is reason to celebrate

Just because you disagree with someone's personal preference doesn't make that preference dumb. For you, football may be all about winning. For me it is not. I like to watch attractive, attacking football. The kind of football Celtic have traditionally been synonymous with. Winning while playing boring football means little to me, that is why I wanted Gordon Strachan sacked. I can foresee it being the same under Davie Moyes. We'll win a lot but the football won't be good to watch. Neither Everton or Manchester Utd were good to watch under him, why will it be any different here?

I would rather watch Tommy Burns Celtic team than watch Strachan's season 2,3 and 4 teams. That is how I feel about it. If I'm in the minority by feeling that way, fine. I don't care.

I can see that in his first year, new manager, new system, new players to fit into that system....what about the following years? Will they revert back to their old ways?

I know it will depend on success etc, maybe Moyes would have assurances that he gets 10m plus whatever they raise in sales every year.

I agree with you, however i dont mind to a certain extent having to watch us grind out results sometimes in order to win. I hope the new manager can find a balance between the two.

Of course. Some days you just don't play well and you have to grind it out. I have no problem with that. As long as it doesn't become the norm.

We haven't played the Celtic way for a long long time Marky at least consistently, managers who promised the Celtic way have bombed. I want someone pragmatic who in the league can express themselves but when need be make the team hard to beat and be pragmatic in Europe, of the current options I think Moyes is that man.

You're assuming that if we get Moyes, it'll be an eyesore. Based on what he done at Everton. Let's not pretend it's anything to do with Utd. He had a couple of months there, was never given a proper shot at it. And looking at Van Gaal's spending spree and results, there's nothing to suggest he couldn't have made a decent go at it, if he was allowed to.
The Celtic job is a million miles away from the Everton job, which affects everything. We're the big boys up here. He won't need to play 'hard to beat' football. We have the resources and players to play attacking football. Which I fully expect us to. He knows the score.

It'll be in Europe, where he'll most likely go in to Everton mode. And I'm more than happy with that, given our last two campaigns.

    Exactly :50:
The best football I've seen in recent times was Lenny's first season. Every grin else has been much of the same. All talk the talk, but that's it.

Using the criteria you've just listed there I would say the man for the job is Neil Lennon.

I'd be interested to see what Brendan Rodgers could do with us. His teams are good to watch. He seems to be heading for Swansea and is probably out of our range money wise though.

Some managers can't just flip gears depending on which club they're at. They have their philosophy, their way of setting a team up, and that's how they do it, that's how they succeed. Look at our current manager, he's totally incapable of changing the way he sets his team up. Moyes enjoyed success at Everton by making them stuffy and hard to beat. It was the same formula Gordon Strachan used in England for years in order to stave off relegation. Did Strachan manage to switch gears and make us exciting to watch? I'd say he did in his first season but it was grim viewing after that. It could easily be the same with Moyes. Then again it might not.

I won't be unhappy if we appoint Moyes. I'd settle for him. Brendan Rodgers, Neil Lennon or someone out of left field like Bielsa or Yakin would excite me more though.
