What a depressing read this thread is. Some of the names are scraping the barrel, yet they are probably our only realistic targets. The alternative is to keep Ronny & prolong this *. Both utterly unappealing.

Not a popular choice but I would have him tomorrow. Just the kind of experienced manager we need and had plenty of international experience having managed at the world cup that should help in Europe

The one who got Ireland past the first round of the world cup and took Spain to penalties even though his star player walked out before the tournament started.

Mick McCarthy is not a fashionable name and the youngsters will not like but I would take him no bother. He would not be on my A list but a top candidate on my B list. Well done whoever suggested him. Former captain as well, I mind him playing but I was too young to remember properly.

Edit upon googling I'm guessing aul captain fantastic was not our captain! My bad!

OK, I'm guessing and probably wrong but Ex-Celt, been around and so experienced. Been used to Interntional area and working with next to nothing. Problem I have with Mick is he didn't do it with Wolves, Sunderland - who does? and now Ipswich. He is a good hard working Manager. However will be lead us into Euope? In my opinion...No. However if it's a choice between him and some folks suggestions of Roy.....I mean Roy Keane...please.

I suppose compared with some of the names, Rednapp, Moyes, Pulis, MON....none of these Managers have ever worked with no money...unless you look at Moyes at Preston....Mad Mick is on the right side of being sane.

I've been watching us long enough to have a fair idea of what will happen in a few months. Ronny will be given the big heave. Speaches about "we tried something new and whilst we'd like to thank Ronny for what he did in bringing in new ideas, it didn't work out. Sorry to see him go."

So with Gers up and hopefully Hibees, after a lousy season - we could even lose the league - to save face The Board bring in a name, a Fans' favourite - Henrick who will have dosh. At the same time we will sign 2 or 3 big names that will shock many at their value. There will be loads of talk about getting us back to the top and regular CL qualifiers.

I could write it now. Seen it so many times before over the last 50 years.

i thought it was strange he never had his own no2 and that we imposed john collins on him, i think lawell was covering his * with a safety appt of collins but kennedy was a strange one

but i thought ronnies guy did come over at some point

remember the european game away and commons shouting at the coaching staff i thought it was more than likely collins

theres something about collins personality that rubs players up the wrong way it was their at hibs and he walked or got sacked, there was also complaints of over training and him competing with the players distrupting the harmony in the group.

anyway probably too late to save ronny and celtic even if it has been collins that has * up the harmony at celtic park

I'd argue he did do it with Wolves and Sunderland but I suppose it depends what you were expecting.

He led Wolves to their highest finish since 1980 and was the first manager to keep them up for successive seasons in over 30 years.

His Sunderland team won the Championship with 94 points. Ipswich he has definitely improved taking them over in the relegation places to their first playoffs in ten years.

Ireland he completely changed the style of play in a way no one anticipated, had to put with all the Keane * but as Gabriel says we should have beaten Spain and got to the last 8. Unlike Jack's teams his Ireland teams always finished strongly. Scoring the last goal in all those World Cup Games.

If you don't fancy him as manager then fair enough but I think he has improved all the teams he has been at ( Millwall as well.)
