Perhaps but this is a symptom of the cancerous policy at our club i.e. a suit running the club through a proxy. If we did things properly I am certain that we could get Rodgers whenever we wanted, I am fairly sure about Moyes and the other two would be trickier but dooable if we really pushed the boat out to get them.

i would go for a young, forward thinking manager with an emphasis on fast, fit free flowing attacking football.obviously he would need time to get his own players, coaches and medical team in to help implement a high pressing game.after about 2 years he would ideally have identified the dead wood and be introducing youth system players into the first team.this radical approach wouldn't be an instant hit, but, with patience,we might just see the Celtic we all want to see in a few years.

So they're realistic if everything about the club was different?

The only thing that needs to change is a choice, our chief executive needs to choose to let a football man be in charge of the football side. It's really this simple. I have a feeling that in the interests of self preservation we might get the type of manager we need in the next go around for the simple reason that if we hire another yes man who is glad to get the job then make no mistake about it the fans will direct their revolt towards the suits if it go's * up again, and rightly so. I can actually see some of that hostility floating about these days as I am sure they can too. So to protect themselves they would be wise to hire one of the managers from my list. I dont even think that the biggest internet lawwell fans would disagree with me on that point.

Sounds like we already have that exact description in Ronnie.

    * sake Og :56:

Martin O'Neill - Nope, wont come back as we have no cash to throw at him. Also think his time as a club manager could be over.

WGS - Highly doubtful, seems to enjoy managing Scotland. Could maybe see him back in a temp role in the future. Still highly doubtful.

Moyes - Sacked off Man U, didnt do too well at Sociedad, looks as if he wants to try his hand on the continent. Plays * football anyway, wouldnt want him.

Rodgers - Took Liverpool to 2nd in the PL, could probably walk into any job in England/Europe bar a few, was probably on about £5m quid a season at Liverpool. We dont even give that for transfers * sake.

So Og, I'd love to hear your reasoning on how these guys would be achievable targets.

Well first of all they are all Celtic men which gives us an advantage over similar low paying clubs.

Moyes and Rodgers are not working and might want to get back into football especially with us. They have to be the top two targets. Rodgers will appeal to the purists more so but Moyes is the number one target. A five year contract and a remit to get the 10 along with CL football the stability we will get along with the glory and cash means this will pay for itself. What we cant afford to do is blow the opportunity we find ourselves in even more so.

I accepted that the other two would be trickier but if we wanted to we could really push the boat out and get one of them.

As for Martin look at our campaign there in the qualifiers we beat and drew with the world champions and he didnt need a transfer budget to do it. In fact only WGS's Scotland beat us just at Parkhead.

The most important metric for our manager is getting the best out of limited players. That's it. That's the job. We have to over achieve in Europe. Ideally I would have Martin but the fact that Moyes is available means he should be the number one target.

I know we could hire one of these men if we showed some balls, just go out there and get them.

I'd keep him.... but if he is gone in a couple of month I'd like to see D. Moyes on our bench

What the * do ye want? Are you just gonna sit and take stabs and time waste by responding with a laughing graphic that would embarrass a 10 year old girl? Do the online equivalent of not opening your mouth unless you have something to say. And while we are on the metaphors you hover over my shoulder on here and it does my head in. Yes International managers tend not to have transfer budgets it was the point of the post to debunk the myth that he is some sort of check book manager. Now unless you are going to debate with me about Celtic I have no patience for these sort of time wastes.

"It's better to remain silent and be thought a fool than to speak and to remove all doubt."

You should probably read this before you even look at a keyboard.

All for going out and getting a top manager, but you say these are all attainable...they really are not. If you go down the "if the board pay the money" route, suddenly every manager is an option.

I'm really intrigued to find out how you know that Davie Moyes and Brendan Rodgers would be keen. Unless its your opinion. In that case, in my opinion, they are not keen. Just repeating something doesn't make it suddenly fact.

Chin up, top of the league. Your wet dream of Ryan Jack holding the league trophy isn't as likely now.
