Fantastic result for Portugal. I was convinced France would win it but I'mm so glad Portugal won it, always good to see the underdogs winning especially against all those odds.

Well done Luz and the other Sporting fan on here :smiley-laughing002:
What fantastic tournament for you all. Have a great party! :veryhappy:

I'd agree about Payet, think he's class. Haven't seen enough of Kante to really comment on him.

Had portugal from the start at 16s also had a pound free bet on them at 20s from ages ago and I had Greizmann top scorer at 10s

Then tonight after 90 mins I backed Portugal in extra time at 9/1

No we don't. Not unless we're playing Bayern or Barcelona or someone at that level. Even then we only play that way because we're not good enough to keep the ball against those teams, Portugal actively chose to be negative in this tournament. Big difference. In any case, are seriously comparing the gap between us and Barcelona to the gap between Portugal and Croatia or Portugal and France? Come on.

I think it emphasises the need for a team over quality once again. I loved seeing the 'one man team' doing it without the man. Some real quality in there.

And pogba hahaha the idea some one will pay 100 million for him is * sad.

I've watched Pogba playing for Juventus a number of times and on most occasions he is one of the most noticeable and influential players on the park. So I was expecting more from him in this tournament than he delivered. He's still a quality player though. Not a £100million player(who is?) but quality nonetheless.

Don't buy the payet hype , never have.
Was over rated enough coming into this tournament and after a good group stage admittedly against 2 * defences and the swiss he became more ineffectual as the tournament went on and the defences became decent.

I've seen what Pogba can do, * * I remember when we played Juve and was blown away by his sheer power and pressence, really showed me the reason he's so highly rated that night, I did see an unreal goal from like 40 yards out from him aswell.

That said Sanches has been consistantly phenomenal for 99% of the tournament, so many times I've thought he's gona run into a dead end here and lose the ball, 5 seconds later he still has it, if your comparing the 2 players on current form Sanches is streets ahead, Bayern have snapped up some player.

Wasn't a great final. Wasn't much in the way of quality football played between two teams who do have quality players within their respective teams.

Ronaldo situation seems to be undermining the achievement of Portugal, for those outwith the country itself. For the record, despite what often appears to be his self indulgent approach to football. I think Ronaldo was genuinely injured or unable to continue following the fair challenege with Payet (hyper extension of his leg). Also that he's genuinely passionate and committed to playing for Portugal. However it's often very hard at times to decipher the difference, due to the way in which he carries/portrays himself on a weekly basis.

There is no dispute about the quality player that he is. He is a World Class player and athlete.

Anyway let's not distract ourselves from the game tonight. I thought France best opportunity tonight was winning within the 90 minutes. Portugal never really troubled the French defence, but the pattern of the game suited again the less proactive of the sides. For me France have been fortunate to reach this stage of the competition, were very fortunate against Germany. However for the 2nd game running Portugal managed again to produce in the midfield area, Wales were stifled and France, bar a few marauding runs from Sissoko likewise.

Griezmann was unable to connect with Giroud in attack, just like France's opening game of the tournament. Neither did any of his team-mates. Griezmann was the brightest spark in a relatively poor tournament. For me Deschamps played Pogba far too deep and as a result, far from areas he could impose his influence in the games. Payet flickered against Romania but was ineffective outwith. France ultimately failed in attacking depth.

Portugal whilst playing unattractive football, produced enough to win the tournament. Even tonight's winner, bar a pretty good finish from Eder, was littered with moments of French weakness in the build up. Sagna with a poor throw in, indecision between two French players and Koscielny was weak with his contribution.

Are Portugal a quality side?? I think they have a good collection of midfielders, a trustable goalkeeper and defence which is topped off by a quality player in Ronaldo.

Did I expect or anticipate them winning?? No.

Do I expect them to push on from tonight?? No.

I can't admit to know a lot of Pogba but can't help agreein wih you that he would have been better placed up front because from what I can see he is a great box to box player but in some games like tonight where the action is being stifled then he would probably cause a lot more problem with that direct energy of his if it was closer to the opposition box, I mean he would be almost unstoppable if he got a run at the 18 yard box with his determination and skill plus his ability to shoot.

Will be interesting to see when he goes next. He just seems so ambitious which is the reason he left UTD that I can't see him going back there with no CL football altought they are building a team which some players might wish to be part of. I'm imagine Real Madrid would be more suitable for him. Could be play alonside Modric, Kroos? Sounds like an incredible midfield if it could work. But then what do they do with Casimero, Bale, Isco, Rodrigueaz? Their bargaining power makes me thing they could sell any midfielder for a fee and most teams would take it. Casimero (thought I doubt) he'd be on the table would probably be just as desireable to some teams'' formations.

I'm surprised Payet didn't move abroad, maybe money and age and this will probably be his last big contract.

That's who we need to find, a Payet for a couple of millions. Hopeing Ajer or Dembele get half as close. Waiting to see what his plans for a left winger are.

Against Iceland, Hungary, (Austria non event),Poland had the better chances and then there's Croatia whom they didn't have a shot on target for 118 mins? Before they scored and then there's Wales

It's been like Chelsea winning the CL not so long ago they had the luck.

To be honest I hate it seeing them on the park, I actually thought it was pretty ridiculous them being on at that point of the tournie.

Glad Portugal won it, them or Italy I w wanted to win.

Did Fergie win a CL after Ronaldo left? I knew they reached a couple of finals but I don't remember them winning one?
