Well when you think about football when you're a kid, it's everyone up front because that's all anyone wants to do is score a goal. So playing with one up front goes against the nature of the game. In the very early days it was a 2 3 5 formation before they 'inverted the pyramid'. 5 3 2 actually looks more adventurous than 1 up front.
