Don't think he knew what Celtic are all about and I don't think he really cared. Bottom line he hung about for his 5 year tenure then left, most importantly when he left he never booby trapped the place like messers green and white over at snake mountain.

Farry tried to * us over. We're Fergus said "no gonny do that." SFA backtracked. Rapped Farry over the knuckles and he died.

Dealer is spot on in this thread. There is a lot of revisionist history regarding McCann. The fans saved the club change started in the terraces and he mentioned yer man Keane whos name often escapes me he was the man who put the money in to actually stop insolvency proceedings. Fergus played his part for sure but it is more complicated than saying he saved the club. The wee * rubbed most of us up the wrong way too if truth be told! I am not being critical of him here either by the way. It's just important to tell the truth.

Really interesting thread. Daleer : some great points, mate. :50:
Me personally, I'm too young to remember it all tbh. So it makes for some good reading. Not the usual sugar coated pish.

He didn't actually save Celtic. Perhaps you should read through this thread and consider the simplicity of your narrative.

As for stopping the 10 that lies firmly at the feet of Win Jansen and the players. In fact the way Fergus was acting throughout that time we are lucky that we had a boss who could hold it together. Remember there was massive problems with Fergus and Tommy and there was also massive problems with him inserting Jock Brown in an attempt to babysit Wim. He also sold most of our best players at the time that summer as well. The fact that we won the title should not take him off the hook for nearly destabilizing us and to give him credit for stopping the 10 is just a disneyland version of what actually happened.

The man is not the mythical figure that he is being portrayed. He made mistakes along the way and he helped to steady the ship and is a very welcome part of our history but painting these fairytales about him is just not how it was.

I dont care if you see this reply or not. It's those kind of accusations that rub me the wrong way and you're not the first to make that implication. Just because I dont read from the script am apparently not a Celtic fan. St Pauli seemed to approve of my post what does that make him? And how is it being negative when I am simply telling the truth? If you want to believe in fantasy that is fine. If you dont want to become better informed because of the person informing you that is also fine but answer me this, why the * would I post on a Celtic forum for 6 years if im not a Celtic fan? If you think you have sussed me out you are a terrible judge of character.

Respect to the man. he saved our club.
There wouldn't be a Celtic as we know it without him.

With every post you make you humiliate yourself further and prove how clueless you really are. I used to have a nickname for you and one of the bossmen asked me to stop calling you it, I assume because you went and touted to them, so people in glass houses. Perhaps you should listen to me as well. My version of the events is the truth your version is a sugar coated puff piece. It's never to late to learn the truth lifes to short to be buttheading your way through life repeating cliches.

Im at a good age that I remember the mid to late 90s, enough to know thr hard times and appreciate what mccann done for us.
He had his flaws, he was responsible for wim leaving, burns sacking, three amigos fallout, Barnes, brown and a fair few other things.
But he saved the club, he steered us in the right direction and set up the stadium etc.

The man should be held in a positive light within our history, but as some have mentioned, he isnt 100% angel or perfect.

As I mentioned though, im at a good age to remember a lot of stuff from that era, but also young enough to maybe not fully appreciate the full scale of who done what before that 11th hour.
So in the spirit of the op, in interested to hear more about this Keane charcter and what his role in things was before and after the 11th hour moment.
I ask in curiosity because I kind of wonder how much longer he could have done as he was (great credit for keeping the lights on, not daring to question that motive), but if it was so 'easy' and 'risk free' and not mccanns own money, then why didnt Keane do it before mccann?

    * you love your touting and another thing if you're going to call someone an empty headed idiot then you should learn how to spell member properly, unless you are talking about a meme section and if that's the case perhaps I should be flattered! If I was making a meme about you we both know who's picture I would use as a template, don't we mark?
