If Rogics playing I'm happy with Commons out wide, we can play through the middle with that.

I think Rogic is better at allowing us to do this. His first touch is much better than Commons in my opinion, and I think that is vital when playing that role.

Ronny and these players owe us a really good European performance. They all have to turn on the style tonight, * "grinding" out a win. All out here.

    Gordon
    Lustig--Simunovic--Mulgrew--Izzaguirre
    Brown--Bitton
    Commons--Johansen--Armstrong
    Griffiths

Bringing on Forrest, Rogic and Mackay-Steven as subs.

Not sure about that mate, don't think you can say Rogic's better in that role until we've seen a proper run of games out of him. He's earned his chance in Europe though.

Plus, Commons fills in those positions from wide anyway, giving the space to wander for Rogic. I like playing that way, it's one of the only times you see fluid play out of us, we're very rigid otherwise.

Commons obviously must be in the team. Would like to see Forrest start, too. If Commons is on one side cutting in, we need Forrest to give us width and pace.

I don't think it sticks enough when Commons plays the role compared to Rogic. If a ball gets zipped in with pace into the feet of either player, I would much rather it was Rogic on the end of it.

One of the best things about Commons for me, allows us to play in the final 3rd.

Regardless, I've never seen Rogic doing it at a higher level than the SPFL but he's earned himself his chance.

I don't think we will. But I never thought we'd lose to Malmo either (over 2 games).

The best thing about Commons in my opinion, is that he is always likely to pop up with a goal, even when having a shocker. He got a hat-trick down at Rugby Park the other year and he was arguably the worst player on the park. Not a bad thing to be able to do of course.

Rogic has never had the chance to do it at a higher level than the SPFL to be fair.

Aye he was awful that game, reminded me of Naka's hat trick at Tannadice :smiley-laughing002:

I know mate, which is why he's earned the chance. I think he's suited to that level.

If Rogic plays mostly as a third midfielder which I think he should, win the midfield battle and we win the game, then Commons can come inside and occupy that space with Rogic coming in behind him. If Rogic occupys that central space pushing Commons wide we should still win but we will be hampering our second best player. There is nothing to fear from a team from Norway at home. This is a 3-0 easy. Just * watch them on the break and drop the line back and we will cruise.

Rogics movement naturally makes space for Commons to move inside or Forrest on the other side, he's a natural at picking his moments at dropping deep and playing with the game infront of him or deciding to take the ball with his back to goal. Everyone needs to be helping out the midfield though, Molde if they play like the last game don't care about winning the midfield battle, it's about getting numbers forward on the break.

We need to limit there space to break into, while still having players go forward. It's a difficult balance but one we should be able to do if we've paid heed to the hiding we got over there.

I was screaming for him to be given his jacket at half time, then he comes out in the second and bags the match ball:52:

As for tonight, he has to play for me. We need a mix of real pace on the break and control of the ball. Both (expecially the latter) were lacking in the first game..

The only headache is how to fit Armstrong/Commons and Rogic in, as I'd certainly have Forrest on the right tonight..

But as you've pointed out, Commons is a threat at any time and can win a game out of nothing....So that leaves Rogic and Armstrong, I think Rogic may just miss out but that'll be harsh..

The problem is though that there is going to be a mountain of space in behind and we all know it. An extra man in the middle will help us to stop their counters at the source.
