A few years ago this guy was getting big hype.

If we bring him in and build his confidence I think he could prove very useful.

Stokes isn't a striker anymore, he can play there but he isn't good enough. Ciftci isn't a target man, he is far more comfortable with the ball on the ground.

We need him, we have 2 strikers one of which only just scored his first goal for the club.

It's also not a gamble, couldn't be further from it. He's free. We have money to pay his wages and they won't be astronomical.

    Could not agree more.

His record is not too shabby in England, and throwing him in partering Leigh Griffiths up front domestically, and i think we will see a few more slaughterings like we did yesterday.

I have no doubt he'd score goals for fun in Scotland. Not as a disrespect to the SPFL and the general Scottish teams, but his entire career thus far has been playing against defenders from a higher calibre of league. I guess at 31 it's not much of a gamble either.

From what i remember he used to be quite the player, and re-igniting his career at Celtic Park would be incredibly beneficial to him; he could even play in Europe if we get past the group stages.

For me, it's a no brainer. Sign him up. Stick him up top with Leigh. Watch the goals come raining down.

It could be down to the fact the window is closed and the fact we didn't sign a striker.

But I am a little excited about this if it happens.

I would like Sammy too, although tbh I'd still take Sammy, as he can do a job coming in from wide still.

But Cole I think will do a job too.

Add them two, I'd be well pleased, although can't see Sammy being returned. :(

If we only play one up front, do we need a target man to knock the ball down for the opposition defenders ?

Don't think he's all that great to be honest. Shiter version of Dion Dublin.
But he's different to what we have and a more physical presence than Scepovic ever was or will be.

He's exactly the striking option we don't have. I'm really struggling to see any negatives in this. It's underrated launching the ball on to the big-man.

Also he's the best dressed potential Celtic recruit I've seen, which has to count for something.

Turned down a move to the MLS in favour of signing for us, according to STV.

Just what we need, Carlton Cole to come up here and start banging the goals in.
Thatll make other leagues take us serious.

Adam Rooney has done it, I wouldn't be worrying about whether outsiders rate the quality of the SPL or not mate they don't!

Type of player we need for a plan B, long balls into him if we need a late goal just like how we would put big Virgil up top. In for free and wouldn't be a big wage so happy with that.
