Doesn't need to mean anything. 39 goals from 50 starts is * amazing.

    39 goals in 50 games means * all :52:

I can think of many of those goals that meant something, his two in the last week being amongst them.

I never said they do, do you honestly think I believe he is better than larsson ?? , maybe if it was Leigh van griffiths he would get more credit.

It is, and I like wee Griff, but for me he isn't clinical enough, regardless of goal stats.

For me he's going to be a SPL player who can give us goals, but when it comes to the crunch, he won't.

We'll see how he gets on for Scotland against more experienced teams too.

Maybe he'll prove me wrong and develop even more and I'd love that to happen, but for me it won't.

Over rated by some under rated by others. A decent striker but no Henrik Larsson.

Would you say Malmo or Fenerbache were 'the crunch'?

This argument is nonsense in my opinion.

He just scored against Fenerbache. :smiley-laughing002:

Who gives a * if he isn't clinical enough. If he ends the season on 35+ goals (very doable) then he can miss as many as he * wants as far as I'm concerned.

Nah, I'm hoping to see him improve on that. Like I said, there's another level in him of he starts putting more of his chances away. He could be close to a 1 in 1 record for us if he starts doing that.

There's more we can get out of Leigh, I hope he keeps improving.

    I bet it would mean something if it read;

    Leigh Griffiths 9 Goals.

You'd probably have chewed through your laptop by now. *.

See this is where I disagree. Look at the game in Amsterdam for example. We didn't create a lot of chances, but Griffiths had two very good ones, and failed to convert any. This is one area I think he needs to improve, because in games like that, chances are usually at a premium, and we cannot afford to pass up good opportunities. Maybe being overly critical, but I felt he probably should have scored away in Malmo as well when the scoreline was at 0-0.

There is no way you can't look on a 35+ goal season as anything other than an unmitigated success.

1 in 1 would be amazing but it's a bit unrealistic.

Like i said, 35+ and it really doesn't matter how many he is missing, he is fulfilling his requirement for a Celtic striker.

You're right. And he will only improve playing against better sides. This years Europa will hopefully push him to the next level.
And hopefully Champions League football (one day) when it comes means he will then be ready for that step up.

And Fernando De Ornelas scored against Bayern Munich and Oliver Kahn, lol.

Oh and they're bottom of our group, btw, in case you don't know.

Good to see you're happy about him missing chances, as there was 2 in Malmo he should've buried and look how much we've lost out against them.

And one other thing, Kris Boyd.

I didn't say it wouldn't be succesful mate, I said he's got another level in him. I don't think it's unrealistic with Griffiths, not with the amount of chances he does make himself and miss, those same chances that he can easily tuck away. The ability is all there for him to be able to kick on, if he scores 25/30/35 he's succesfull but he could be even better, it's all there for him.

There's another level in him, lets hope we can bring that out.

True mate, all signs are pointing towards him being able to get European goals as well. Lets hope he pushes on further :50:
