    The Steve Perryman quote is on Setanta. I think if he was signing 1 year deals, it was simply because he saw his future outwith the J-League and didn't want to tie himself to a large contract. As Die Hard Bhoy says, Naka won't be around forever and this guy looks like him, but with pace.

    "KOKI MIZUNO has said his farewells in Japan to his JEF United team-mates and hopes to get the green light today to join Celtic."

    The 22-year-old midfielder could even be on his way for signing talks as early as this evening.

    A three-man appeals panel - of former players and managers Pat Nevin, Gerry Collins and Peter Cormack - first has to decide if he should be granted a work permit.

    Naka today gave his seal of approval to Celtic's attempt to bring another of his countrymen to the club. He said: "Koki is still only 22, but if he joined me I would support him in every way I possibly could.

    The main agent to both players, Robert Takuda, has been working on bringing Mizuno - who is out of contract on January 31 - to Parkhead since last month.

    Takuda said: "Celtic's interest is true, but the deal is complicated. If it was down to Koki it would be simple because he is 100% committed to making this work. "

    You can alread hear the song "Oh the hokey koki koki"

    haha.

    Looking good though :celt_2:

    Superb news, couldn't see it getting knocked back tbh as he has already played for the international team at his age and is seen as a great prospect. The wee man looks superb and we need more technically gifted players at Celtic with pace.. Aiden left side of mid and Mizuno on the right - Now thats what im talking about, Theres pace to burn and shitload of skill from both they players.. Hope we get him contracted asap.. At least nakas now got some1 to practise ninja with.

    BBC report

    Celtic edge closer to Mizuno deal

    <!-- S BO --> <!-- S IIMA --> <table align="right" border="0" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" width="203"> <tbody><tr><td> [IMG] Mizuno is seen as one of Japan's brightest stars

    </td></tr> </tbody></table> <!-- E IIMA --> <!-- S SF --> Japanese star Kouki Mizuno will be granted the work permit he requires to join Celtic, BBC Sport understands.
    Mizuno has not made the required number of international appearances to automatically guarantee a work visa.
    But a Department of Employment advisory panel met on Wednesday and approved the 22-year-old midfielder's case.
    Mizuno, who plays wide on the right, is currently with J-League side JEF United and will move to Scotland subject to a satisfactory medical. <!-- E SF -->
    But Celtic fans may not see much of Mizuno or last season's Player of the Year Shunsuke Nakamura in the coming weeks due to international commitments.
    <!-- S IBOX --> <table align="right" border="0" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" width="208"> <tbody><tr> <td width="5">[IMG]</td> <td class="sib606"> MY SPORT: DEBATE
    <!-- S ILIN --> Are Celtic fans excited by the possible signing of Mizuno?<!-- E ILIN -->
    </td> </tr> </tbody></table> <!-- E IBOX -->

    Japan begin their World Cup qualifying campaign in February and Mizuno and Nakamura are likely to be called up for warm-up games against Chile and Bosnia-Herzegovina later this month.
    Nakamura arrived at the club in July 2005, in a £2.5m deal from Reggina, and has been a big hit in Scotland.
    The playmaker is on the verge of a return to fitness after a lengthy spell on the sidelines with a knee injury.

    It saids "understands" still which means they have an out if its wrong. So dont be 100 positive

    Pleased to hear another skillfull wide player coming although I would have prefered someone for the left side. Surely Japan wouldnt call up Naka this soon. BTW, I recommend visiitng Japan even if its really pushing the boat out (certainly was for me). Went there for a couple of weeks touring around recently and was just superb. A really different place but really safe and the people are superb.

    Haven't seen any video of him but noticed in pictures he takes a free-kick with his right foot , so hopefully the reason he plays wide right is because he can beat a man down the line.. Would be a welcome addition if he has any pace..

    The amount of international commitments is always a worry though.

    I predict that he will be rubbish for at least half a season while he gets use to having three shades of * kick out of him on wet boggy pitches

    Good news, looking forward to seeing what he can do.

    Off Topic (kind of): Is there any way of watching the African Nations on TV or even the net?
