Is this based on the original diagnosis or have we have recent updates that he's on track?

Excited by seeing him myself, from what I've seen he is very much like Allan in terms of vision and passing ability but also can take a defender on.

This lad can be the Scottish equivalent to Gareth Bale.

His name cropped up in the Allan thread so bumping this.

I haven't seen enough of him to comment, but Im gonna anyway, I fear he'll plunge into mediocrity here and not really get a look in. Hoping to be proved wrong :50:

Good you're keeping an open mind.

Has buckets of potential but I'd be surprised if he's featured half a dozen times by the end of the season. RD's wee panties are filled to the brim which means anyone unproven is too much of a risk, even against lower league opposition.

He can play on the wing.

Much more suited to that role than Armstrong. It's weird having all these similar players, I'd like to see them all start the same game, just to see how it went.

    Armstrong Rogic

    Christie Allan McGregor

Should play that for our next Scottish cup game, would be interesting.

Ten players for three positions, and you haven't put stokes in... We really are bloated there. What's worst if you take out Forrest Nesbitt and Mackay - steven that's 7 players, who all play best in the number 10 role

It's a ridiculous situation. It's also meant our best player for the central role (Commons) is constantly shunted wide to make up for it.

I'd honestly choose 3 and go with them long term instead of this nonsense we have just now with central players being lost out wide.

I've just watched this young man on youtube because I knew very little about him and I can honestly say that he's a pretty impressive player according to the footage.
He seems to be good (and willing) at playing a pass to open things up....something I feel we lack big time right now.

When he returns to us I hope he's allowed to show his flair and skill without being overawed or have it 'coached out of him' in order to play a certain pattern of play.

I know GMS has a certain flair and aplomb that we aren't seeing this season and I also think Armstrong hasn't shown himself this year either for one reason or another, so let's hope Christie gets a few games and grabs the chance to bolster an attacking midfield that seem to be struggling for ideas a lot of the time.

Completely agree, and have been saying this for awhile. Signing young talent is great but I think the Allan signing was pointless. At his age and maturity, he just isnt justified IMO. However, I think Christie is one of the attackers who can actually play out wide. Armstrong, Allan, Rogic, all need to be in the middle, which is already filled with Commons and Johansen. Would rather get rid of Allan, Mcgregor, and MAYBE Rogic. He's made amazing strides and looks like a real talent but I dont think he'd overtake Johansen or Commons long term.

I don't get this.....neither Commons or Johansen have shown their worth this season and if Ronny is looking to restructure his midfield with young, vibrant players who show a bit of something different to what we've been seeing this season then I'm all for it.

Getting rid of the players who are potentially taking over the roles in midfield just to let more established players disappoint us week in and week out seems a bit futile to me.

Granted....Rogic needs to fully find his feet but there is some good signs there.
Allan needs more game time in order to show what he can do, but I see good signs there too..... and Armstrong needs to be played in a more central role, IMO, to show if he really has that bit of class that we've seen fleetingly.

As for McGregor.....he does 'exactly what it says on the tin'......still better than the headless chicken that has been Johansen this season for the most part don't you think ?
    ....and Christie looks very decent.

I can't say with any great honesty that Commons deserves his place in the team right now, although, I know he can conjure up a wee bit of magic now and again but for the most part he's pretty anonymous for most of the games he's started and so I would rather see a player that is trying like a * bear to make his presence felt than watch a seasoned pro go through the motions.

This team we are watching right now are so devoid of flair and imagination going forward that they have us on the edge of our seats for all the wrong reasons so I'm absolutely sure a lot of fans would rather see a young player try his best...( i.e Tierney).....and give a good solid account of himself than watch the same old story.

Ronny has obviously sold the board on his idea of bringing through young players who are hungry for success whether they be home grown or Scotland based players that don't cost very much and so that's the future for Celtic as we know it right now.....what we need to see is some excitement on the park 'cause this sideways/backward passing * is really doing my head in.......so yes to all the young players but only if they're allowed to express themselves in their own way....remember Paddy McCourt ?....how good was that to watch now and again ?

We do have an abundance of players available for 2 or 3 positions. However, many of them are young and I'm sure they are more for the future than the now.
Players like Commons and Brown are getting on a bit and the likes of Johansen and Bitton are likely to have their heads turned by the EPL if they are going through a period of good form.
So it's maybe no harm to have the likes of Henderson, Christie, Armstrong (in a central role), Rogic, McGregor and Alan here to learn from these guys and be ready to either displace them (through good fom) or replace them if they leave/retire.

Agreed, but I do think that we have 1/2 too many youngerish midfield players at the moment.
