True but again we are buying bang average Scottish "talent" incapable of taking us where we want to be (or the supporters do anyway).

Of course we are. But we are still and always will be streets ahead of Aberdeen and the likes.

We know this and walking this joke of a league seems to be the height of our aspirations.

Yes, people say I am being negative, but its * hard not to be, the way the club going it has no ambition and it * me off how most people can just look the other way. Ryan Christie is like when we signed people like Riordan, Slane remember him? 400k didnt kick a ball for us, Greig Spence, 100k same story.

He is one for the future and for prices as low as £500,000 it's definitely a low risk strategy worth taking. People are moaning about it but this is our league and this is our talent pool, we have no excuse to let the brightest talents in scotland go down to clubs in England or abroad without at least putting in offers. Robertson, gauld, mcCarthy and Fletcher would have all strengthened us and we could have got them all relatively cheap at one stage.

We need to scoop up all the talent we can because at the moment the market value for players around the world is crazily inflated and it doesn't seem to be changing any time soon.

Rate this lad, he's plenty of talent and has been Caley's key player. Only thing I'm worried about is that he's another player that will be played out of position along with Armstrong, Commons, McGregor and Allan.

CALEY THISTLE STATEMENT ON RYAN CHRISTIE
Caley Thistle chairman Kenny Cameron said: ”On behalf of everyone at the club we wish Ryan every success on signing his Celtic contract, though he still has a big part to play for us before he leaves. The lad’s attitude while with us has been excellent and he has the potential to progress even further.”

“Ryan is a product of our youth development system, being coached and playing for us since he was 10. As a result of his own talent and under the guidance of John Hughes he has developed into the exciting player he is today.”

“We gave him his SPFL debut, ironically against Celtic, in December 2013 and since then he’s made over 60 appearances, scoring nine goals. He’s played in a League Cup final and our historic trip to Hampden for the William Hill Scottish Cup final, gaining a winners medal last May. He also played in both games versus FC Astra in our Europa League qualifying matches this season, where he equipped himself well against a team that were very unlucky not to qualify for the play off stages of that competition, and has won three Scotland caps at under-21 level as well as being chosen as last season’s Football Writers Young Player of the Year.”

“Now he’s gained another opportunity and Ryan’s success pathway through the ICT system is an incentive to all the youngsters among the 150 players, from Orkney to Aberdeen, coming through our youth development programme at the moment.”

Mr Cameron added: ”Ryan made great strides under John Hughes’ tutelage and we see ‘home-grown’ players, such as Liam Polworth who has signed a new first team contract, as the medium to long term future of Caley Thistle. The stage is also there for the likes of Cammy Mackay, Jason Brown, Ali Sutherland and Calum Ferguson, all products of our system and added to the senior squad this season, to stake their claim for consideration.”

“Our thanks also go to Celtic FC for the manner in which they have conducted negotiations. Despite our rejecting their first two offers, they remained respectful and professional in their dealings with us.”

John Hughes said: ”I’m extremely pleased that Ryan, a local lad, has been able to play for his local team at the highest levels in Scotland and thus secure a move to the team of his dreams. He deserves every success at Celtic Park.”

“In view of our severe injury crisis, it was crucial that we didn’t lose his services immediately. We look forward to Ryan re-joining us following the conclusion of contract negotiations and to making his contribution as we bid to climb the table. He is coming back on a season loan though his home club do have an option to recall him in January. This move for Ryan is a wonderful incentive for the young lads on the fringes of the 1st team to now kick on and show they are worthy of following in his footsteps”
