    I think this is the case with a lot of our players. Like Ciftci (although that's more from the UTD point of view). No way would we go in with 900k then just up it to 1.5m because that's the price they wanted.

    I was starting to worry about your (and plenty other Croatian Celtic fans) opinion of him.

    However, if the guy that has cost in excess of £30 million across Lyon, Southampton and Liverpool is being slaughtered then maybe there's a lack of relative criticism.

    If he's at the level of Dejan Lovren then we are laughing and the fee looks a steal.

    He is WORSE than Lovren. And Lovren is *, trust me. The reason why Lovren got sold for so much cash is that it's easy to make a player look good today. The owner of Dinamo is excellent at trumpeting his own players into the sky.

    He trumpeted his own players into the sky that much that the guy he sold for 8.5 million Euros went on to become a 20 million quid player a few years later.

    We know what Lovren is like mate, he's played in England and on our televisions for 2 seasons.

    Mistake prone. Well, Šimunović is like that, but with less physical strength. We got shafted here, if the transfer goes ahead.

    Check the European results of Dinamo in the past few years. And the number of goals they conceded. They don't make good defenders, really.

    Lovren looked great at Southampton, where he had a lot more midfield protection than he currently does at Liverpool.

    While the opinions from our Croatian posters doesn't fill me with confidence, I can't fully believe that he is all that bad if we are willing to pay the reported fee. Plus, you've always advocated the signing of big lump-type players, so is your opinion maybe a little skewed by his 'style'?

    Are we expected to believe that we'll pay this much money and not have seen him play a good few times? I'm sure, even if he is mistake-prone, that our scouts have spotted something the average fan that bashes him, haven't.
