    Now I've calmed down (slightly)

Why did Armstrong come off at half time, anyone know?.... Was our best player.

King Kenny and Henrik. Proud to have seen them both play.
Unless he was injured, that's one of Ronny's unfathomables,(like starting Berget against Legia) which I thought we'd got rid of throughout the course of last season. Once he knew our squad inside out kinda thing.

His inability to drop Johansen, putting Mulgrew at LB the other night and his liking for putting Commons out wide are also a bit strange for my money.

Johansen's been poor, Chico should never have been LB and Commons offers * all out wide.

I am hoping he's learning from these errors.

Wonder how things would have panned out if we were away first..and if the score was 2-0 would we have managed to over turn it

At least half the forum where calling for this(I wasnt), there is no way you can compare it to starting Berget against Legia.

I was saying this to my 2 mates on Tuesday, i think the seeded team should be away first aswell, but after the way we started at home we had the chance to build a good lead and * it tbh

The thread is still here because we have to go over and over the post match analysis to try and find out where we went wrong. Don't get me wrong Malmo were great on the night, we knew they would be, they are unbeaten at home in Europe in four years, and their magnificent fans made that stadium a * hole for us and others.

My take on it so far is.

    1. The team that was picked was the correct team for the night, most of us on this forum agreed with it I reckon, but for some unknown reason they didn't respond to the manager's coaching and prompting.
    2. Zonal Marking cost us two goals on the night ( and one last week too).
Why was this allowed to happen in two concurrent matches ?
    3. The ref done us out of a penalty, and sending one of their players off.
    4. We looked knackered. Why ?

StPauli1916, a polite question, are ye nae a little, tiny bit sad that it is Malmo playing RM and not Celtic ? Just like Barca, it surely would have been a great night, even better than playing Spurs. And we might have seen Rod crying with happiness as the new Tony Watt scores the winning goal, if only ..............there is always next year, i guess.
    Meanwhile it's
the Saints next time, i forecast a 4 nil victory for the Celts

Come on, Venglos. We don't really need to go over it again and again, though. It's not like Ronny and JC are looking to us for answers FFS. :smiley-laughing002:

The only people reading this are ourselves, that one pathetic Malmo fan who is hanging around embarrassing his club and fellow fans and a few Daily Record journalists.

Also we're just going round in circles not getting anywhere, as so often is the case.

Let's face it, we just want to go over and over what went wrong because we're obsessive, morbid c***s when it comes to CL failure.

    1. Yep, I'm sure we all agreed with team selection.
    2. I guess we thought the late goal at the end of the first game was just a stroke of bad luck.
    3. Yep, big game changer that.. I'm sure if he'd have sent the boy off and awarded a penalty we would be in the CL.
    4. Maybe because we are early into our season and Malmo are halfway through theirs is my guess.

We will never know the answers though, we just have to move on.

The thread is dead, yayyy. This is my last post in here.

Our performance was out of character, to have so many underperform..

We picked the right team for that formation but for me the formation was/is wrong for defending a lead in Europe..

I am not denying that part RR :smiley-laughing002:

    But.
Maybe we are all still missing something here?
Was possibly Boyata the weak link ?
The two goals seemed to come from his sector of the zone, correct me if I am wrong ?
And he did * one of the goals in with his leg.

I agree. We even play the same formation at home to Hamilton ffs... It's too predictable.
