Aye, like I said earlier, United were springing fellas like Rojo, Valencia and Fellaini tonight. Each are probably not far off that mark in terms of pay, yet are totally undeserving of it.

Aye, if they were out of contract in the summer Fellaini would probably have ended up back at Everton, who knows who'd have took Valencia probably an Aston Villa and Rojo would maybe have ended up at a Southampton maybe even Newcastle or someone.

Those players cost about £60million between them as well maybe more.

English teams being touched up in Europe by their 'inferior' neighbours gives me a wee warm glow, maybe they could get Terry Henry to do advert about it :icon_mrgreen:

Your last paragraph is bang on the money for me. The only English team capable in Europe is Chelsea in my opinion, and that mainly comes down to the man they have in charge. However, it's hard to see them doing anything because of how poor they look just now. Thankfully to be fair :smiley-laughing002:

Not a good night for the BPL clubs, especially Man Utd. A defeat and a player with a broken leg.

Man City once again being shown up in Europe.

They must have the worst atmosphere in the competition, btw.

So is England - every season. It always boils down to one or two teams. From 95-2004 it was literally a Man United/Arsenal jolly.

I think the 2009/10 and 2013/14 seasons are the only ones in recent memory to be more than a 2 horse race in the EPL.

It's no different to any other league. One of the best no doubt though.

    It's embarrassing.

Imagine we had a squad like that, we'd have to upgrade CP to a 100,000 seater for European nights. :smiley-laughing002:

They were offering kids seats for a fiver tonight to shift tickets - not even sold out by tea time man, for a CL night aswell. Against Juventus!

    Deary me.

You'd think after years of being Man United's ugly wee brother they'd be buzzing about having these sort of nights year after year.

Instead of they Arabs buying Man City they should have took over Newcastle, Newcastle with a team like that could probably fill a 60-70,000 seater week in week out, that 25,000ish extra fans every game would have made a lot of money back.

Even Leeds both them have large fanbases and could probably squeeze an extra 20,000 out the woodwork if they were in the CL and winning Leagues.

Yep, I have no idea what goes through the mind of the City fans.

Honestly, do they really only concern themselves with the EPL? :smiley-laughing002:

Wonder what they think of the whole situation actually, they probably used to pride themselves as being a hardcore fanbase of say 30,000 who were there through thick and thin and their identity being that they didnt really care about always getting pumped they still went and supported their team, now its flipped on its head it would probably ruin it a bit now that thye mostly always win and their wins are really tainted as they are being used as a toy same as Chelsea or PSG.

If they had slowly built themselves up to where they are now by their own means the fans would probably be walking about 10 foot tall but theyre put there artificially.

I always say this to my da.

If I was an Arab worth 600Billion I'd buy Aston Villa, Nottingham Forest or Leeds. Clubs with a European history and a solid support.

Why Man City, is what I have always wondered.
Pellegrini better get his finger out because the Arabs won't just be content with the EPL. After spending the amount they have, they have to expect European progression.

Man City are from Manchester, the home of arguably the biggest Club in the World.

They wanted to prove a point, they can financially manipulate a rival for them.

Suppose that's the most obvious reason aye.

They can't be doing too badly for fans numbers when they're expanding their stadium. That is partly for the future and maintaining what they've built, but there's plenty of interest there too.

As far as ownership itself goes, I'm surprised they didn't go after a London team like Spurs, who until recently were struggling for cash constantly despite being a good club. Plus London has the biggest metropolitan population in Europe, plenty of which are football mad.
