And so is having a bit of dig which Allan has * all of, he is as said a luxury player but imo gets caught far too much on the ball and tries to overplay his so called killer pass, he wont be replacing Brown and thank * he isn't

Can spot a pass but that only gets you so far in the modern game. It's hard to judge a player I've seen so little of, but I'm not convinced he's cut out for a big club.

He deffo tries that killer pass too often. I do put that down to his lack of minute's, and eagerness to impress in the little time he's on the pitch..

    Time will tell I suppose..

Agree with that. I think when you can make passes like that you really need game time so other players can read your game. His disguised reverse pass can be too good sometimes.

Except, he isn't a central midfielder. He has almost no other qualities for that position.

I'm not sure if that's true but even if it is I don't mind that. We spent most of last season playing safe passes and going from side to side without really cutting teams open. If Allan wants to pass the ball forward and try to cut defences open then I view that as a positive. His eye for a pass is probably the strongest part of his game. He's a player who could do well under Brendan Rodgers.

See tbh if he's not going to be one of a MF 3 in a 4-3-3 formation then I wouldn't be starting him in the hole behind the striker role as there are plenty ahead of him in that role imo.

Guys like Rogic and Commons would get a game for a start in that position before him, Christie/McGregor as well and if Roberts was considered for that position then he's another that would get a game before him there.

If that's the only position he's being considered for and not CM then I don't see him getting a lot of game time.

Rodgers said he likes his aggressiveness and drive to press. We also know he's a great passer and that would help out our front 3 alot. Rogic would be ahead of him but I dont think he see's guys like Commons and Johansen as long term option whereas the way he's talked about Allan and Rogic makes me think he wants them here to stay. Allan in the hole ahead of Bitton and Brown would work well I think.

There's folk in this thread over the last few posts saying he has none of this in his game, no dig whatsoever and the only thing he's decent at is passing but you need more than that for CM. I disagreed but couldn't be arsed replying to them as they can't see past certain players.

I just think we've not signed the DM that Brendan will build his system around..

And until we see who gels the best all our surmising about our midfielders is a bit pointless..

Not when its just giving possesion away which it is 90% of the time, i honestly rate Henderson and Christie a lot more than Allan, and he is 25 a bit like Forrest he should be way more consistant by now

I'd say it 100% is true to be honest Marky...... And it's not a dig, as I like player's who like to make thing's happen as well. He's just another player at the moment, struggling to find a home in the 11, and is over eager to impress..

I'd like to see him relax and really express himself with future chances..

Agreed. Going for the killer pass is good, but Allan tries to force it at times and needlessly gives the ball away.

Bitton is not a DM, not in the true sense..

I mean a player who thinks about defending first and his positional sense is one of protecting the defence, especially when we are in possession of the football.

We need a player like that, there isn't one in the squad!

Well i tend to think having some dig to go in and challenge and make tackles is different from pressing and being aggressive. As long as he can press and make an effort to get back and suppress those in possession, I'll be fine with letting Bitton and Brown do the dirty work.
