He hadn't played games for a long time. Of course he wasn't in his best shape. He wasn't given time to adapt. Ronny obviously rated him or else he wouldn't have brought him to Celtic. Ronny loaned him for 2 seasons in Strømsgodset before he was sold to the best team in Norway at that time.

I think it was a mistake by Ronny to throw him into the team right away and to think he was going to be Celtic's saviour. Ronny obviously thought he was in the same shape as when he played in Norway, and probably was a bit desperate. I felt sorry for Berget, cause he was a very talented player. Played for the U21 national team from when he was 17-18 + some games for Norway. He made a mistake going with Solskjær to Cardiff. That club was a mess.

Now that he's been given time in Malmø and has adapted, he plays well.

When has Berget told that Celtic is *? Not true..

I don't think it had anything to do with being out of shape or lacking match fitness.

Match sharpness he definitely lacked but one thing Celtic fans could never level at him was lack of energy or work rate. He was similar to Johansen in that respect he was just never played where he could make use of his best attributes. He will never be a left winger in a month of Sunday's.

We had Johansen who made the position his own, Berget playing wide wasn't the greatest utilisation of his talents so it was understandable why it didn't work out. Vying with Commons and Johansen for the same position was never going to be easy and he obviously didn't show enough in enough games/training to warrant starting ahead of them. He moved on and so have we.

He did not release him 6 months before the loan deal was finished. The deal was a 6 month loan. And why do you reckon he brought him in the first place? He did have him under his wings at Godset for 18 months, and knew he had tons of potential. Given the situation, though, Ronny was under a lot of pressure and had not got time to make sure he settled in the team, I think.

Michey - Who is a big fan of Ronny and a firm believer that he is going to win the treble this season :)

When has he ever said that Celtic is *? In interviews with Swedish newspapers after the draw he said something like he was looking forward to play against some of his mates and that it was going to be a tough game. Moreover, he said that Celtic was a good team and that it is a club with great traditions and that his team, Malmø, would have a chance of going through if they are performing as good as they did in the RBS game at home.

Michey - Who is staying up way to late to be arguing on the internet...

I didn't think he was as bad as made out either.

When you consider alot of the surrounding factor's of his move anyway..folk won't do that though.

If played in a central role he would have given us more, unfortunately for him there were others already nailing down that area. I reckon' if we signed him after he had immediately left Molde we'd have seen a different player.

He was coming from Cardiff with absolute zero confidence and was thrown into a cauldron in Warsaw where even our most established faces crumbled.

Not as bad as made out. Nothing to be feared now, no, however he will be out to prove a point and needs to be watched.

DaDoRonRonny - Who has just had a danger * and is about to call it a night.

of course its not true, he kept it pc. If he ended up in cardiff reserves (spell check police take note) then I guess all these managers just play the brilliant berget out of position. I agree Ronny made a booboo playing him in his first start.

Malmo attacking midfielder Jo Inge Berget has told The Scottish Sun that he is confident of winning against Celtic.

So to say your confident in winning games is the same as saying the other team is *? No way. As a professional you should be confident. If your starting a game scared of the opponents, surely you will lose. Rosenborg beat Real Madrid in the Champions league some years ago. Celtic beat Barcelona. I bet both Rosenborg and Celtic were confident that it was possible to beat them without thinking they were * teams.

Everyone of their players wanted to draw us as they think we were the easiest team to beat.

A few of their players have come out and said they are superior.

Their manager says they are superior to us.

He says we are long ball merchants and that we are his perfect draw.

He says he has our number and he is on a revenge mission.

WHY DO WE ALWAYS DRAW COMPLETE *?!

INTAE THESE * WANKS BHOYS FFS!

Maybe I should write it in this thread:

Malmø will play against the table leaders, IFK Gøteborg (with Thomas Rogne) at 13:30 today (scottish time). A game their manager says they have to win if they're gonna have a chance winning the series. I think I'll watch that second half. It will probably be a livestream if some of you are interested in "scouting" them :p

Eh, their coach (also Norwegian) knows Deila pretty well and he knows Deila's philosophy isn't long balls, thats for sure. Doubt he would have said something like that.

Perhaps some of you exaggarate whats being "said" a bit :86:

They have to say they wanted us in comparison with Basel, but it's a tie that suits both teams. Both stadiums are gonna create a great atmosphere. Perfect playing surface over their as well.

Similar match up in styles, but there is room down the sides to exploit. Also open to a diagonal ball over the top.
