Maybe we should ask Larsson for advice? He's coaching Malmo's biggest rival, Helsingborg, now. :50:

To be fair, Berget has played a lot better in Sweden. He even was picked as the 5th best player in the swedish league, by some experts.

I trust Ronny to get us through this, we're a better side than them. If we play to our ability which we will, then we'll go through.

    2-0 at home and 1-1 away. :50:

Agree with you on Forrest and Scepovic, it's like playing with ten men with they two. But not Stokes, not Stokes. I would prefer to see Stokes on the left wing for both of these games. I don't see all the song and dance about Gary Mackay Stevens, too inconsistent and lightweight for me.

Ronny said he didn't think we would face a better side than Qarabag in the next round.

I personally think we are facing a tougher opponent than Qarabag.

Malmo were the side I was hoping to avoid. Don't get me wrong, I think we're capable of beating them. However, this will be a tough test over 2 legs. For me this is a Malmo team who have a sprinkling of quality players. More importantly they are a solid team unit. Was impressed with them during last seasons Champions League. Marcus Rosenberg, Nikola Djurdjic(played with Helsingborg a few years back), Wolff Eikrem, Enock Adu, Lewicki, Sana (Ex- Ajax), Wiland (good goalie) and Molins are all very capable. Rosenberg and Adu are suspended for the 1st leg, which is a bonus.

Seen a few say this was the one they wanted. In terms of travelling, it's ideal but we'll have to work hard for any reward. We will be 2 weeks further up the line by the 1st leg, which will stand us in good stead. Tough task but more than capable of achieving qualification.

Without venturing too far off this thread subject, I'd like to see Stokes in the left role in a league game in the run up to this, and I quite like GMS on the right and cutting in. Can't see Ronny moving too far from his lineups in the last round though.

We've got the personnel to get to the groups. How they're used to get us there, is up to the main man, in whom I trust!

I have seen most of the games both Celtic and Malmø have played in the last half year or so, and I reckon this should be a close race. Malmø, although a bit out of form in the Swedish Allsvenskan, seem to be upping their game when a CL spot is up for grabs and will surely be welcoming the challenge that facing the Hoops is.

If I were to gamble on the two games, I would put my money on both teams winning their respective ties at home. Malmø, I reckon, will come to Paradise, hoping to avoid serious damage and to get an important away goal, knowing that they are capable of beating "almost anyone" at home. As for Celtic, I would say that a 2-0 win in the first leg would be a comfortable enough lead to go to Sweden with. The Swedes defence, IMO, has not been great lately, so I can not really see Celtic not scoring over there, and Malmø would have to score four (if Celtic is up 2-0 after the game in Glasgow), obviously), which I again reckon, not to be that realistic.

All in all, this should be a close one, and in my opinion Celtic has a 60-65% chance of going through.

    Good luck, everyone!

Michey - Who is really looking forward to two really exciting games in the coming weeks :)

I agree with everything that you've said, I'm just baffled that some people are perceiving them as mugs. I'm happy with the draw but I definitely think it's the most difficult in the past 3/4 qualifying campaigns. They have sold a few key players since last season, but still have most of their big names and have replaced well.

Maybe just a bit of bravado by some Celtic fans, they always do that no matter who we draw even Barcelona :smiley-laughing002: But Malmo are no mugs, they are quite capable of beating us over two legs, especially with the second leg in Sweden.

If Malmo do beat us, and I am not saying they will, and I do think we will need more than a one goal lead this time, as we never looked liked scoring against Quarabeg who are inferior to Malmo, I won't be calling for Deila's head this time, because Malmo are a top dollar team.

Any more info you could give us on their players? I know a few, obviously Berget, Lewicki (who's class), Rosenberg, Eikrem and Durdic. But past that not much.

    Cheers Mark! :shamrock:

Being a Norwegian lad, who has a heart for both Celtic and Malmø, the draw was almost surrealistic. Two Norwegian managers of high quality, and possibly four Norwegian players involved. It is going to be amazing!

Agree with this. Partizan were the main team I wanted to avoid, but Malmo were a close second. I like Lewicki and Sana, both decent players. Djurdjic actually played against us before. He scored 2 when we got battered 6-2 by Greuther Furth in a friendly.

I think we can come through it, but we'll have to improve and stop giving away easy possession.
