Not saying that. Just saying this will be two humdingers of ties. I would say it is evenly balanced, we need to have our A Game to beat them over two legs.

And Aye, a lot of Huns support Malmo so be warned.

Well, it could be worse. :86: Odd (from Norway, who eliminated Elfsborg last night), drew Borussia Dortmund in the EL play offs.

Don't you ever get bored :smiley-laughing002:

Vociferous.. But are they as vociferous as Aberdeen's fans?

I can't believe you actually described Aberdeen's fans as vociferous :smiley-laughing002:

Away back to your cave :bbpd:

I'm pretty pleased, would have taken Malmo over Tel Aviv and Belgrade every time. They have lost 4/5 players from the squad they had last year (if ILTC is to be believed, I think he posted that) and this year really didn't deserve to knock out Salzburg. If you watch highlights of the two games Salzburg should have scored 8 over the tie and only went out because of some horrible defending. Normally I'd be * off about having the away leg second, but for some reason I'm far more confident now about going away from home and defending a lead.

Of course Malmo will be confident but so should we, we gave inter a game remember, right we never went through but it wasn't a pure humping. on our day we are a good team, we are not the team we used to be away from home. We have a few games before the game to get up to proper match fitness. We should beat Malmo at home and hopefully keep a clean sheet. But we Can score away from home if we need to. Honestly more confident than i've been in a good few years about the team going through to the groups. Going 2-0 at home and 1-1 away.

They might be 6th in the league but they are only 7 points from the top. That's nothing, still plenty of time for them to win it, we've made up much bigger gaps in our own league. Their league is more competitive than ours too and has better teams, just look at the Europa League each season.

In the past few years they've knocked out Rangers, Salzburg twice and played Champions League group stage football as recent as last season.

We have a much better team than they do, but they have a great support and believe it's a good draw for them. They shouldn't be taken lightly, despite how many players they, or any of their opponents have lost.

Tough draw but I think we'll beat them. I actually like having the second tie away from home, think it suits ilis better. Play our natural game at home and then know what we need to do over there.

They are a decent team, probably the best we could have got but we're capable of beating them and should be confident.

We're probably more suited to playing them though than a couple of the other teams who youd imagine we're more technical possession teams. Maribor I think probably play more robust football similar to an Aberdeen type of style with bigger and stronger players who work hard, than skilled technical players who can damage you.

    Agreed.
Some people need a reality check on here, that record speaks for itself.
I'm worried. And even more worried because Deila has got Stokes out of the picture, a player I reckon we will need against Malmo. I don't like depending on the likes of no shows Forrest and Scepovic.

To be fair, past successes for teams who regularly sell their best players aren't anything to go by. It would be like saying we beat Barcelona so they should fear us, when in actual fact we're almost an entirely different side. Beating Salzburg this year is something to go on however, but over those games they didn't deserve to go through (from the highlights I watched). Plus Salzburg are half the side they were last year.

Am I right in thinking they have sold 4/5 players from the squad that beat Salzburg last year?

I'm certainly not looking down on them, but I'm happy with the draw. As with any European tie it could go either way, but with a short journey, familiar playing style, the Scandinavian link to Ronny (so he probably knows a bit about them), I think we can consider this a good draw.

Agree with this I prefer to be at home first..

We the fans can be a hindrance if it's a really tight second leg..the pressure can transmit negatively to the players.

Ronny's system is perfect for defending a lead away from home in Europe and getting that all important away goal!

Another 1-0 will do nicely at Celtic Park.
