Aye, let's give a guy a 4 year deal on the basis of 3 decent performances every season.

* like that has left us with a bloated squad full of dross. The more players we can shift this summer the better.

You're not getting it. Og1 doesn't actually care for Forrest that much it's just an opportunity to be negative. Stokes out the team-bad, Forrest leaving-bad, Commons etc etc the list goes on. If Roberts is * hot then he'll just be a City loanee who will * off, what's the point blah blah blah in Og's eyes, Rogic coming through & playing brilliant yet Og's not convinced. You see the pattern. Wouldn't even bother giving him the time of day tbh.

 

* flying? Think you're getting mixed up pal, this is James Forrest you're talking about. The only flying I'v seen is him flying down the byline losing the ball then putting his daft arms in the air demanding a non-existent foul. He has 2 goals and 2 assists in over 30 games this season. The player you described sounds like a Player Of The Year contender, not a bit-part squad member who clearly isn't giving a * about Celtic. He's been largely useless for over 2 years now.

Selling Forrest is the opposite of downsizing, it's getting a dud who doesn't want to be here off the wage-bill.

 

The thought of another 4 years of watching Forrest try to play football gives me the fear. The guy just isn't cutting it. We've been down the road of the 'but this, but that' over & over again, he's had all the chances he deserves. Time to cut him loose.

As has been said before my biggest worry is that he was offered this deal in the first place. It's rewarding mediocrity, he should have been told that he needed to prove he deserved a new deal & we might have actually seen him show some commitment but then again this is Forrest we're talking about.

 

I actually believe that some people are actually delusional when it comes to football. I quite like wee shooders, but to somehow imagine him as a great player in Europe is absolutely cracked. He looks like a fish out of water in Europe and is constantly giving away possession far too cheaply.

Giving him a contract offer was probably the correct thing to do, but now that he's decided not to accept it, then fair enough.

Good luck to the kid. I hope he eventually finds a way to put on a final ball, because his pace will start to go and that is his main strength.

 

He actually didn't give the ball away that much though, I would say he was one of our best players at keeping possession and playing more patiently in Europe, knowing when to recycle the play or when to go for an attack.

He wasnt really dispossessed any more than any of our other players Johansen, Commons, GMS, Armstrong, Rogic, Allan but he did have much better passing accuracy than all of them. Out all our attacking players Forrest is probably the one who loses or gives away the ball the least.

 

Not overly bothered that he is leaving on ability wise, but it does annoys me that we spent a good 2years getting him fit and we Will not get any benefit for doing so. Should drop him for the remainder of the season.
Some * championship team will snap him up.

 

He's a * hider. Not the sort of man you'd want in the trenches alongside you. Wont be missed, think he's still in the teenage Ajax right back's back pocket.

 

That's the * most annoying thing about him. He absolutely is.

Except on the very odd occasion decides he's the man to turn it around.

 

He's a total shitebag in Europe. Hugs the touchline and doesn't show for the ball or when he does get it he just turns back passes it four yards to Kris Commons who has to try and make something happen on his own (again ) .

 

Not sure where this myth that he played well in Europe this season is coming from. A few runs into space against Fenerbache is enough to be considered a good campaign by some, and 'ripping defenders' to shreds according to og1. :smiley-laughing002: What did he produce of any significance? Zilch.

I expect him to be a run of the mill player in the Championship next season.

 

To be completely honest. Although I'm a fan of his when he's on his game (which admittedly isn't anywhere near often enough), he was lucky to be offered that contract. So if he doesn't want it, he can get to *.

 

That's where I am with this as well.

 

Forrest is done here and has been for a while now. He's been a passenger here for far too long, and now we finally see an injury free level of fitness he goes tools down.

Happy to see him leave. Was good when he was 18 or whatever, has only gone backwards since then. Definitely one of my least favourite players at the club
