I was mostly thinking about his finishing there. His final ball stuff can be deceptive, he's rarely the one that actually assists but a lot of the time it's his play that gets us up the pitch and makes space for others, he feeds in the people who do set up the goals quite regularly.

Fenerbache at home this season he was good. He was also good against Ajax I think. He can do it at that level, not something we should dismiss easily.

He's not what he should be due to injuries. He's still useful.

I thought he was the only guy that took some responsibility on his shoulders Malmo away. When the team were toiling he was trying to make things happen.

I think it's almost all down to mentality and attitude with him, he has the talent and the physical attributes he just doesn't contribute enough regularly.

I have decided that I want us to just buy fancy sounding foreign players rather than bring through anymore youth players. What's the point of bringing them through anyway when people give Forrest pelters? I agree he is not the player he could be but he vastly superior to any wingers we have signed since I cant remember when. Derk, Berget, Tonev, Wakaso, etc.

Look at McGregor as well he got a while touch up until very recently. Why is it that a large proportion of our fans save their harshest criticisms for our own local players? Before people respond and highlight some of his limitations remember that you probably didnt bat an eyelid or spend as much energy criticizing the signed players named above.

Great going forward, if we can get the ball to him. Technically also great. Getting back to defend like your life depended on it, not so great.

It happened against Malmo and his opponent was Berget. SO where is he at the first goal? How easy is it to zip the ball around him to get the cross in that eventually led to the corner they scored from. You expect a tackle to go in, it doesn't.

I don't see him throwing players out the way on a football pitch anytime soon

Take last season. He had an exemplary record on the pitch. Not a single yellow card.
Season before one. This season he's had 2 in Europe, Johansen this season is on 11.

So it's fair to say defensively he's not one to get stuck in. It gets worse looking at the Malmo game away. Problem he had was he couldn't get past his man and we had no plan B.

There's even a strange moment when he is standing in front of the guy on the ball, but thinks he needs to play zonal and trots off to cover an angle to a player out wide, the left back for them basically just walks past while James moves out the way as if he's making an angle for a pass.

I don't think you can expect him to be smart enough for 90 minutes in Europe. They knew he was terrible defensively and it worked out for them.

Malmo stuck a guy with pace on him, Yotun, he's like 1 metre 71 and Forrest cannae stick a tackle on anyone.

Round about 3 minutes 8 seconds, gives you an idea of how much a bombscare he is defensively.

It didn't even come to anything. :smiley-laughing002:

Talk about going a long way to make a point. Maybe Rosko coached right enough to be dissecting plays like that...

It helps mind you that the commentator dissected it for him with helpful graphics.

I'm baffled that some think he's good enough for the EPL, pace isn't enough when you're up against a better class of opposition, consistency and a better end product would be needed, a player like McGeady canny even get a look in at Everton ?

It's not just his pace, he knows how to use it, he can run at people and beat them. He's a lot cleverer a footballer than people give him credit for.

He's inconsistent though, I'll say that. I've seen worse players than him in the EPL, that's for sure.

Most that play down the bottom end of the Premiership tbh.

Gil, Anya, Grealish, Barrow, Montero, Pugh, Jurado, Ritchie, Abdi, Albrighton, McClean, Stanislas, Routledge are all guys who play out wide in the EPL

Grealish is probably the most overhyped player I've heard of in a while. Don't know why but i can't stand the guy :smiley-laughing002::smiley-laughing002:

Montero and Gil are cracking players, Gil's not shown it in the Premiership so far right enough.
