I like Forrest, technically limited but effective at times. Would keep him along for as long as he wants to be here.

However, McGeady was on a totally different planet in terms of ability. We won't see that level of ability come through our academy, or any Scottish one again. Prob could have done a lot more with his career.

Tierney is a solid wee player and will go on to be a mainstay in our team. From what I've seen from Nesbit he's a similar type to Forrest, fast and nippy. Excited about both.

But McGeady had a technical ability you just don't see in Scotland and probably won't again.

I honestly dont think McGeady was that great technically. Got to the by line, done a wee step over and crossed it. Good technique is being able to pass and cross a ball in a whole range of different ways, as well as controlling and moving with the ball, for me he was never a great passer/crosser of the ball. Decent on the ball with a few tricks up his sleeve.

Dont get me wrong, he was a good player for us and produced some great displays (Benfica? in the CL comes to mind) but people over rate him big time.

McGeady basically carried the team for a lot of the 3IAR season under Strachan. His influence was very important.

I agree, and he was a good player in his time for us. I just cant understand people going on as if its Henrik Larsson or something. Hes nothing special.

Well a comparison with the Khing is unfair as he was one of a kind. McGeady certainly isn't or wasn't world class but he was a very good player. I do remember the Russian press labelling him as the best player in Russia when he first moved to Spartak.

I know mate, wasn't comparing them but the way some go on in here its as if it is Larsson.

McGeadys an above average footballer who came through our ranks and people get blinded by that imo, hes not achieved much in his career at all apart from 3 SPL titles and 3 or 4 domestic cups.

He is yet another player who's career never quite went anywhere good after leaving Celtic.
In fairness to McGeady though we got good service from him when he played for us. He played over 250 games for us getting close to 100 assists in that time and being a vital part of our team and when he did leave we got a big fee for him and that fee essentially was used to pay for the host of new players that Lennon brought in when he took over.

I watched WGS Champions League campaigns not all that long ago, the 2nd last 16 run in particular he was involved in absolutely everything. People tend to severely underate him or severely overate him. I probably fall into the latter rather than the former, loved him here.

I've never heard one Celtic fan even slightly suggest McGeady should in any way be compared to Henrik Larsson.

And I've never suggested anyone did.

I've said that some * are talking as if its Henrik coming back, and not a slightly-better-than-average player like McGeady.

    They really, really, aren't.

They are acting as if a guy that became a 10 million quid player at Celtic is coming back and even at that the reception is more mixed and muted than it should be because he would be a fantastic signing for this current side.

I'd say the only thing Forrest has over McGeady is pace, and McGeady is no slouch either.

McGeady has better ball control, dribbling ability, final ball, and goal threat.

I'd have McGeady every day of the week.

Do you honestly think I'll get dragged into this with you?

Reading your unrelenting, defensive posts give me a sore head mate. If you don't want a debate and just want to shout your uber celt pish then fire in

McGeady is and was a slightly above average player that has not achieved anything outside of the SPL.
