I have to admit my patience was wearing extremely thin with him. He can be so frustrating. Spent most of last season just shouting 'run at them, run at them' for him to play a pathetic square ball. But when his touch is on point and he has the confidence to run at teams he's a real weapon.

He's just been annoying me a bit recently, he was excellent in pre-season but so far in the competitive games he hasn't done a great deal. And when he is one on one with a full back, he hasnt looked like beating him. He's a yard off it.

Agreed, and if he works on linking up better and his final ball then great; but if no...
This should be his final chance this season.

I know he's got this in his locker. Still think his end product wasn't great though..

Agree with this, neither is Johansen tho..but he needs to play and in his preferred position too..

I'd start both Armstrong and GMS on Sat too see if they can pick up a bit of form before Malmo.

For me he has one asset. He has pace. He just runs....and usually in a straight line. If the opposition have a defender as quick or double up on him...then that's it.

The way he took the ball on his chest in the first half last night and then dipped past the full back was pure class..

There's a lot more to his game than pure pace.

Superb performance, I do agree he relies way too much on pace, but by * he was good last night.

He looks thicker around the thighs and *. Think Ronny's had him on the squats. Makes sense given his explosive acceleration. He had a few runs last night that just blitzed past 4 or 5 players. I don't care who you are, that kind of speed can hurt an opponent. In europe he could become a real asset, in tight games where we're under the cosh, his pace would certainly be a useful outlet.

I think he looks faster than ever.

Get a run of games, him, Commons, GMS, Johansen, Armstrong need to sharpen up their quick short passing, then we would have a very dangerous attacking midfield squad to pick from.

It wasn't so much his pace, he looks as quick as Matthews, he looks powerful though. They were going shoulder to shoulder and grabbing him and it didn't make any difference, he just kept on the way he was going.

EDIT: ignore me, I thought we were in the Saidy Janko thread for some reason.

    Carry on.

    Nothing to see here.

Ha, you're not far off though. Thought Forrest managed to ride a few rough challenges and still stay on his feet. Like i said, he looks thicker, stronger. Him and Janko on the right would give a team shift and a half!

He was braver last night than he's been in a long time. That's true.

Very impressed and pleasantly surprised with the James Forrest that turned up yesterday. Hopefully he's in that mood on Wednesday.

He showed last night he can be a cracking player, he just needs to be more consistent and put in performances like that more. Obviously injuries haven't helped him but hopefully he can stay injury free and fulfill his undoubted potential.

    Still applies to Forrest though.

Thought he looked a lot stronger than unsual last night. He was riding challenges and brushing past players at will.

True, he is very quick though. Quicker than Matthews!
