It's funny how Wanyama's goal against them didn't have the same impact, I went mental but it was tempered with a feeling that it was still an impossible task.

Watt's just sunk home that it wasn't. We were doing the impossible.

    Unbelievable night.

Big Pierre against Airdrie '95 Cup Final, it ended the rot of one of the most hellish spells in the history of our club, the reaction of players such as McStay and Grant at the final whistle emphasised the huge importance of that result.

We have done that to them a lot over the years after giving them a goal start.

It would have been a bad loss considering we had improved a lot by then and United were a first division team. This is why you don't leave a game early. :icon_mrgreen:

One of the things about that goal is this: we were all used to seeing the best strikers in the world run through on goal, and you kinda know they're gonna score. With Watt, there was that extra "*, he's only gone and scored it!!" and then the realisation of "*, it was actually a beauty of a finish!" Must admit, had a bit of smugness about me after that went in.

Petra was unreal that night. Both our wing backs tore them to shreds.

We could have scored 5 or 6 in that game. At home, I think we were stuck between attacking or holding what we had.

I watched that a few times. We played lovely football, genuine continental football. Shame we never played like that more often.

Aye Larsson missed a complete sitter just before half time plus we hit the bar just after the first goal, and Larsson put one just the wrong side of the post right at the start of the second half, could easily been 5 or 6

Can't believe no-one's mentioned Frank Macca's last min goal v Dundee United to seal the double in our centenary year. My first big game at the old hampden - about 75,000 fans going mental in the sun. What a memory:)

There is better goals and goals scored in more important matches but that was a special one.

That's how I felt at the time, like we were a proper top side, and it was the start of it. They had guys like ibra and Maxwell on the bench ffs and chivu, van der vaart, mido (who was a beast then) and arveladze. Packed with talent, yet we bossed them out there..

He was at Anderlecht mate, trying to remember if he played when we were out there and they done us 1 nil but I honestly can't remember. I do remember how * a trip it was and the general feeling was that we should never have lost that game..

Another couple for different reasons, Tirol Innsbruck when we won 6-3 at Celtic park, remains one of the most exciting games I've witnessed, was nip and tuck all the way untill we finally pulled away. Game had everything. We lost 2-1 out there and Stubbsy got a last minute consolation if I remember right..
