Someone's been at his Wikipedia page already...
"Jelle Vossen (born 22 March 1989) is a Belgian footballer who plays as a striker for Scottish Champions Celtic Football Club, and the Belgium national football team. He is nicknamed The Magician. When asked about the prospect of playing the HUNS he replied "who?" He also added "its good to play for a big club and take my career forward""

In regards to Vossen, I'd love him here. I didn't see him playing for Boro but he's always been a class act in Belgium, seems like the perfect fit for us.

He talks some amount of * and people still follow him, reports stuff after MSM do, no insight into the club internally what so ever, most of us dont but we maybe hear a thing or two...

When I've seen him for boro, he's not particularly strong, good in the air or quick..

I might be wrong but he looks like the kinda player I'd like to avoid..

You'd like to avoid a striker with a record of a goal every other game in the Belgian Pro League and with experience of international and European football and the best years of his career ahead of him? I'd understand you not being enthused about signing him but wanting to avoid a player like that seems a bit much. I wouldn't judge him on his time at Middlesborough. Darts Murphy's shining in the Championship. Seems to be a different beast altogether.

I mean especially for the price quoted. £2m's peanuts for a striker with that kind of record. I was expecting it to be closer to £5m or £6m.

Why has his career stalled somewhat?

His record isnt that good though?

    Belgium Youth teams
    42 Games 12 Goals

    Belgium
    12 Games 2 Goals

    Club
    308 Games 121 Goals

Decent, depending on what type of striker he is. If hes a Boyd style box player with not much other than goals then its poor, if he's a Stokes/Fortune/Samaras style deeper/wider forward with decent ability on the ball then its good.

Well, looking at Genk's honours on wikipedia, they've only won the league once since he's been there and haven't finished second at all. So assuming they usually finish 3rd/4th then it's a pretty decent record.

This is a comparison of Hooper and Vossen in the Championship last season.

    Hooper in Bold, Vossen not
    Minutes 1474 - 1925
    Shots 29 - 68
    Goals 12 - 8 (2.3 shots per goal - 8.5 shots per goal)
    Assists 6 -3
    Chances Created 29 - 25
    Headers 10 - 40
    Passes 643 - 569
    Pass Accuracy 84.1% - 71.3%

Hooper skelping him in every area except heading.

Played the equivalent of about 5 games less in time, scored 4 more goals, made 3 more assists, created more chances, made much more passes and passing accuracy miles better.

His goal record was really good in Belgium, second top goal scorer two years in a row in 2010/2011 and 2011/2012, despite in the second season his team finishing 5th in the league. Fourth top goalscorer in season 2012/2013 with 17 league goals and still in the top 10 goalscorers in season 2013/2014 with 12 goals. So I think he clearly can score a goal and would be a good signing. Hopefully they get the deal done.

Vossens stats as a starting striker...

    15 Games 4 goals 3 Assists

Hoopers stats as a starting striker

    15 Games 9 Goals 6 Assists

Overall Vossen hit 26% of his shots outside the box and Hooper hit 30% of his shots from outside the box. So if Vossen was playing deeper then he was still hitting more shots from in the box than out even compared to Hooper.
