Larsson the lions stein mcgrory. Thats it.

word loses the meaning when theres about 30 players thought of as a legend at the club. A legend is like the greatest title you can get and some of players getting mentioned would be nowhere near worthy of that.

McGrain was here for 20 years as a player and was one of the best right backs in the world at one point (if not the best). He's also been here for years as a coach. Surely a legend.

Also, I don't are what anyone says, Neil Lennon is a Celtic legend.

McGrain is a complete and uttter Celtic legend , can't even be disputed .

Why do you think Lennon is a legend?? It takes more than just time served to become a legend . Lennon was a decent player and an average/decent manager , done nothing in his time at the club to earn legendary status .

I regard the legend tag to be something for the best of the best.so for me the legends are our best ever player (larsson) , best ever team, best ever manager and top scorer.

burns and maley are the only other two worthy of being in their.

Mcgrain was the best of the best . Better than Burns , probably the fifth or sixth greatest player we have ever had .

Mowbray's tenure had us in absolute tatters. Lennon came in, had us back as champions within a year and then back into the Champions League last 16 taking one of the biggest scalps in the clubs history (Barcelona) in the process. He then went on to win 3 in a row a log with a few cups. All the while putting up with death threats and an assault at Tynecastle.. No need to go on about any of that anyway.. We all know what he had to put up with.

Add to that the fact he captained us, played for us for 7 years and was a part of the club for pretty much 14 years solid.

Celtic legend in my eyes without a doubt.

None of what you have listed makes him a Celtic legend . ( longevity and service, yes )

He never had us back as champions within a year at all , he lost the title to rangers in his first season .
His record in the cups was poor . ( Embarassed by Ross County and Morton , losing finals to Rangers and Killmarnock , losing semi finals to Hearts )
Getting us through to the last 16 does not make you a club legend , that is selling the term pretty cheaply. 3 in a row is a good achievement but again , it doesn't make you a legend . 9 in a row does - doing something extraordinary. All the off the pitch stuff is irrelevant when we are talking about football achievements . I have the upmost respect for Lenny he is a hero to the Celtic support but he is not a club legend .

Also , if he was a legendary manager he would not have went to Bolton . He would have his pick of clubs .

I never said he was a legendary manager.. Also, English clubs' snobbery isn't a barometer to the quality of a Celtic manager.

All of what I listed there makes him a legend in my opinion. Just because we are no longer one of the best teams in Europe doesn't mean we can't have new club legends.

It makes it very rare . Hence we have had only one in nearly twenty years.

Would love to see stuff from patsy gallagher.from what you hear n read he was even better than johnstone. No idea if True. * if you had been a footballer pre t.v. snd media hype. But if you were a legend back then how good you must have been?? Nowadays we lack a bit of legendary Players but have a decent enough team.

As for lenny: i found him to be a legendary celt.you could see how much it mattered to him as a Player and a coach.was a bit sad tbh when he left. The criticism he got from outside celtic showed he was doing something right imo.

I like Stokes a lot, but the only chance he has of becoming a legend is scoring the winner for us in the CL final against Barcelona next year :smiley-laughing002:

People do not seem to know the difference between a cult hero and a legend.
