If you were to accumulate the over all value of the first team squad, in your opinion what figure would you land on?

In my estimation i have not counted the loan singings as all of them are most likely to leave in the summer therefore adding no value(Guidetti,Tonev ect).I also haven't included the younger players who haven't made a appearance this season or who are out on loan to other clubs (Lindsay,Herron ect) as it would be impossible to give a opinion on there value with so little to go on, although i have still counted the players returning to Celtic in the summer who would add to the overall value of the club (Pukki,Balde ect).

Below is my individual values for the players which you can read through and see if you agree or strongly disagree (leave comments if so).

    C. Gordon - £5m
    L. Zaluska - £0

    A. Mathews - £3m
    E. Izaguirre - £2m
    E. Ambrose - £1m
    V. van Dijk - £10
    C. Mulgrew - £500k
    D. Fisher - £250k
    E. O'Connell - £100k
    M. Lustig - £1.5m (Great player although 80 odd appearances in 4 seasons. Injury prone)

    N. Bitton - £6m (Bags of potential)
    S. Brown - £6m
    D. Boerrigter - £750k
    S. Armstrong - £4m
    K. Commons - £500k
    G. Mackay-Steven - £3.6m
    T. Rogic - £100k
    S. Johansen - £11m
    C. McGregor - £500k
    J. Forrest - £1m
    L. Henderson - £750k (hard to value as a lot of fans including me wouldn't accept anything less than 3m upwards although i estimate his value is around 750k)

    A. Stokes - £1m
    S. Scepovic - £1m
    L. Griffiths - £3m

    Players out on loan :

    A Balde - £800k
    T Pukki - £1.2m
    D McGeouch - £150k
    H Fridjosson - £100k

    Total value : £64.8m

Let me know what you think :shamrock::50:

Armstrong and GMS have played a handful of games, while Bitton hasn't played a full season yet and you're wanting nearly £14 million for them. They're still unproven believe it or not, as promising as they are.

£11m for Johansen is ludicrous I think considering he hasn't played in the CL never mind impressed in it.

Nobody would pay £5m for Gordon or £6m for Brown

Johansen is great but not worth £11M, would say around 6-7M.
    Stokes probably 2-2.5M
GMS injury prone as well 2M but if he can keep fit then around 3M
Gordon 10M if he can keep fit as well. Off course just now probably only 3M.
    Ambrose 3M

There is intrest in him (Gordon) from big clubs. Would you acept anything less than 5m for him? What would you value Brown at? 29 years old captin of club and country still has at least 4 years playing at a top level? I feel 5m is a fair estimation. Put it this way if a mid table English team came in for Brown this summer and we sold him for 3 million there would be 'get the board out' signs come matchday.

Only some * PL club could actually buy some of the players for the numbers being presented.

Other than that; the numbers are far too high.

edit: Forgot about the chinese. They could buy players for far more than they are worth.

For those who are in love.....
    Gordon 8m..

Lustig 4 but a fully fit easy 6/7..
Matthews 3.5 but could rise in stock again..
Ambrose 3, some clubs would pay that I reckon..
Van dijk 10 and no less..
    Mulgrew 2..
    Izzy 2.5..

Bitton 5 going on to be the next 10 after Virgil potentially..
Brown 6, could command that easy right now..
Armstrong 3/4 going on 6/7 eventually for me..
Gary MacKay Steven, as above potentially..
    Commons 2.5..
Johansen 6 going on close to double figures eventually, along with bitton, the 2 most likely, next 10 millers..
Forrest 2.5 and at his lowest right now, can rise to 4/5 again quite comfortably..

    Stokes 3..
Griffiths 3 but could go up another mill..
    Scepovic 2.5..
    Henderson potential is massive..
    Fisher 500 grand already..
    Mcgeough 1 mill..

    The rest I'm not interested..

I reckon we have a good 60 mill minimums worth..

Good to see guys like bitton and Johansen who look to be taking over the mantle of big virg when he goes, in terms of the next big money men, although I'd rather both were here for a long time..

It won't be a kick in the * off it. Realistically it will only ever be what someone is willing to pay but hypothetically I would say it would be closer to £50 million.

How was Brown dropped half a million in value since he's came here? :smiley-laughing002:

    My starting fully fit XI:

    Gordon: £4mil

    Lustig: £2.5mil
    Van Dijk: £10-12mil
Denayer: £8mil (not ours, but this is what we would have to pay)
    Izaguirre: £3mil

    Brown: £6mil
    Bitton: £5mil

Armstrong: £4mil (if someone were to buy him in summer this is what it would take)
    Johansen: £6mil
    GMS: £4mil (same as Armstrong)

    Griffiths: £2.5mil

unfortunately our board will be willing to sell players for upwards of £3 mil but won't buy any for that. I don't have an in-depth knowledge of our finances, only the board do, but surely we don't operate at that much of a loss? Surely if we sell someone for x amount of money, we have the capacity to buy someone else for just as much? Clearly not, but I've never understood why.

It's not a simple case of we get ten million so we've got ten million to spend. Upkeep of the stadium, staff wages (not just the players and manager), boardroom costs, taxes, etc.

I get that, but do we run at an operating loss?

i.e do we need transfer fees to cover that? I would imagine a club as big as Celtic can cover that with ticket sales, shirt sales TV money etc.

I think we over payed a bit for Brown to start with(although he's been worth the money in total), he isn't worth super much because of his injuries and he isn't that young anymore.

For how he's turned out, I'd say £4.5 mil is an absolute bargain. 8 years (so far) of first team service and he's spent 5 as captain.
