It's not really about other clubs though, it's not whataboutery in the same way that you get with the huns. We're not saying other clubs do it so we're not so bad, we're saying other clubs do it so why are we the only ones being pulled up on it? Why is it the norm for the rest of Europe but not for us?

There seems to be this attitude that its "just a wee sparkler" or "its only smoke". Theres a whole load of reasons why thats a crap attitude, its ignorant to the people around who might have chest problems, they are dangerous (different circumstances but just look at the fire at Bradford city) and they also make fans look like yobs.

I wont blame the Green Brigade for flares because it seems to only happen at away games but the banner at the first inter milan game was brilliant with no flares, just a stadium full of scarves and flags.

Just had a look at that ref stats, look how many yellows he gives out In a 2011 Euro u17 elite round match the Latvian side committed 3 fouls but were shown 5 yellow cards. Kruzliak probably doesn't like protesting..

Undoubtedly UEFA will use the latest flare incident to hammer the club and to be honest it * me off not that we are being fined but the fact that UEFA are far from consistent with the no pyro ruling.

That said it's time now for the flares to stop because it's only a matter of time now before UEFA say ok fines are not working and heftier sanctions are imposed.

Is an enforced ground closure going to be the only thing that makes people stop using pyros at games? Or even a ban on away fans travelling?

On the yellow cards issue that is a joke and hopefully nothing will come of it. Though I suspect we'll end up being fined. :31:

For me it's simple. If the flares are getting the club in bother then it's time to stop.

This is something you would expect your national media to do. They should be highlighting this and putting pressure on UEFA. Unfortunately they are more concerned with defending the mythical red hand salute

We got a tiny fine. Who cares? We should be like the rest of Europe and not care so much.

No one has "tarnished the image of club".

Exactly. It needs to stop though for health and safety though. I doubt anyone turns on the news and say "what a horrible club they let of a flare" apart from the EPL pundit brigade.

If any club was fined for using flares in Europa league then almost all of them would be getting investigated. There was 1 flair set off, look at the Trabzonspor display vs Napoli, probably good hundred pyrotechnics used.
The media love to say it marred the occasion, how the * does 1 flair mar a terrific performance by the team and supporters who out sung the Inter fans all night.

I care when it's money i'd rather see Celtic spend within the club. But as I said earlier will those who see nothing wrong with using pyro's be quite so happy if we end up with a stadium closure or ban on travelling away?

I think not and for many having a packed Parkhead on European nights and the excitement of travelling away is what makes the highlight of their season.

Just saw we're getting investigated for improper conduct of the team! Did any paper pick up on that! * bullshit refereeing we better not get fined for that.
Until teams start standing upto UEFA and not just the fans over corruption then can wave bye bye to any decent atmosphere, they'll want all the tickets gone to corporate wanks who sit and clap.

If it's a health and safety issue then why do it? Personally I've never stood beside anyone with a flare at a match but I don't think I would fancy it much
