Comparing tonight to the games in the summer or even the game away to dynamo Zagreb- huge huge difference. Loads of progress and we can look forward to next season champions league campaign I think in good spirits. But can I ask why were we lighting flares when we were fined only yesterday. That was daft- remember Seville? Awarded with best fans in Europe award and did the club proud. Instead tonight now probably more reprecussions from uefa.

The most polite way I've ever seen an Italian admitting they're diving carrots.

You're right. I'm just tired of the whole "oh lookey here, those darn gosh Italians blatantly paying the ref off, like always, AMIRIGHT GUYS? Also; something about Berlusconi and/or the Mafia".

Not that it's particular bad on here, it's just one of those stigmas that stick, even though own of your own (Guidetti) dived pretty badly (as did Shaqiri, it happens everywhere, on every team).

I'm rambling, I'm not sure what I'm getting at.

As I said before, the red was definitely debatable. The last was pretty much deserved, as Icardi would've been in behind your defense (albeit in the corner) had he not been nudged by Van Dijk).
The first one, I'm not sure. He went through Palacio to get the ball, but I haven't really seen any conclusive camera angles to really suggest booking him was the wrong decision and vice versa.

Guarin's elbow looked bad, but I don't think there were any ill intentions - yellow was sufficient.

Just to touch on the two penalty appeals - if we'd been given either of those, you'd all be shouting * murder. Nothing in any of the two situations.

Oh, Gods! You mean UEFA don't think we're the most bestest fans in the world anymore? Well I for one am gutted, what with the respect I have for that fine, upstanding organisation that isn't corrupt or hypocritical in any way. :54::54:

Case in point. There's certainly a difference between pressing a button and understanding what's in a sentence.

I was talking about hard tackles but it's ok. Have fun, and never gonna win anything.

That's part of the problem though. We get told every year we get booked because we don't adapt our game to the european refereeing yardstick and then when Juventus drag our players down at corners and we get * all we got told the referee was lenient because "corners are usually defended like this in Italy". Why are we the only ones who have to adapt whilst the referee will readily bend the rules for the big teams?

Who's talking about conspiracy? I'm not. It's just fairly obvious that certain normal mechanisms will put pressure on referees in a certain direction. To take just the most obvious example, the repercussions for referees who make mistakes that cost UEFA a *-ton of money in lost advertising revenue are going to be slightly different from those for referees that make mistakes that lose UEFA the revenue from the mighty Scottish/Norwegian/Slovenian (etc) markets.

This is just how life works, mate; not conspiracies. A chef I once worked for told me how another chef he had worked with was dismissed from a certain famous London hotel because he prepared Nelson Mandela's breakfast after chopping onions and a complaint was made. If an ordinary punter had complained that his breakfast tasted of onions, he'd have just got a telling off.

Are you familiar with phrase 'a bulldog chewing a wasp?' Gary Medel is a very offensive specimen.

Naw I mean that the positive headlines created around europe and the world through awards such as that show celtic as a family club whos supporters can go anywhere. But now instead we have negative headlines showing us as a club who hold up * uefa banners and set off flares despite being fined the day before for exact thing. Lets be honest I support celtic you support celtic we watch the team with pride especially tonight with what with ten men was a fantastic performance, what has setting off flares got to do with football. Just support the team.

What was more annoying about the ref is that every 50/50 decision went their way. Literally every single one. Even on corners/throw ins and * like that. It was obvious Inter were trying to buy as many fouls as possible yet the ref pandered to it time and time again.

Regarding the sending off I think he could have been a bit more lenient. I mean for * sake, he would have known that dishing out the red card would have completely killed the game and almost any hope of us going through, yet he couldn't wait to get it out. Very soft indeed.

At the end of the day Inter still probably would have won 11 vs 11. But it * sucks to see two of our best players get taken off before half time and completely killing any momentum and impetus that we may have had. That's what people are annoyed about.

I think most of that is fair enough. Still don't think the first booking was even a foul though. Again, think it was a mistake and I'm disappointed but oh well, what can you do.

There is often a problem with proven players in other leagues coming over and struggling with the physical nature of the game over here. I would say that's a problem with other leagues because I like it when theres a bit of a physical battle but I suppose you can't really blame the teams for playing what they're used to. I still think the ref was pretty inconsistent but not out of prejudice or anything else.

Edit: Although, as it turns out, you're a bit of a *. Enjoy playing in your league that's determined by who can pay the refs and officials the most money for the decisions. Most of our club officials and supporters were annoyed at only kicking our leagues cheating club down 3 leagues for not paying tax to cheat but you's were apparently fully OK with just kicking the bribers down by just one league. Enjoy your corrupt football and we'll see you in the Champpions League next year. Oh, wait...

Not sure if you'll see it much on here but I do agree with this. Don't think the penalty appeals were all that strong and i'm not really surprised to see them waved away.
