We should have beat them tbh

We scored 3 well worked goals, one slight fluke that it was an OG but the defender was forced into dealing with that. Two of their goals were goalkeeper mistakes and other than that they never had any chances that I recall. We had a couple of other chances, first half header by Van Dijk and the other two by Griffiths and Mackay-Steven could all have been goals plus the next best chance after them was probably Henderson as well. So we had 7 good chances, they had 3, 1 of which was cause a total blunder leaving a tap in.

You're hinting at something here which I've come to find as well. The noise at Celtic Park reacts to the match in the best way. I often feel that some ultras groups are there just for the show. There's no reaction to the ebb and flow, no adjustment or shift in mood. At Celtic Park you could understand the match even if you were blind by just listening to the ground. It's really incredible.

Yeah, I'm not too worried about Ronnie either. And it's incredible how people can chalk it up to luck or bad fortune after it happens so many times.

This isn't true, mate. I remember one of our fans on here saying he'd never experienced an atmosphere like in Warsaw. I'd be amazed if 30k Legia fans are the only ones in Europe that better us for atmosphere.

As for Dortmund, they get a better atmosphere for league games than we did for Maribor or our EL group stage games.

CP on a European night is as good as it gets in the UK and one of the better atmospheres in Europe. That ought to be enough without trying to convince ourselves of this BFITW * again. It's no accident that the fans of other Scottish teams use that as a way to try and ridicule us.

This is the exact line of thought I'm protesting.

If I didn't know any better, I'd say the above post was a wind-up.

Spot on diegan. Its a real raucous noise and celebration of.all our traditional songs pre match. Then really loud to inspire the side. With a roar on the attack and so GS hitting crescendos as we go forward. Then if we concede there's a roar of defiance and belief like after 2-0. It responds to the action, reaching the peak after a goal but its still loud when we are level and losing but in a different type of way. But also the songs are more boisterous than the songs in turkey which are basically just tunes being hummed. Songs like the fields are the exception but they're loud in their own right. Lonesome boatman was good Thursday but if it co tinues too long then thats the kind of hum I'm on about with Turkish clubs.

Celtic park is fabulous and no club can boast a songbook like ours.

Nah, it's not a wind up; it's just normal for fans of each side to try and talk themselves into believing before a big game. We all do it sometimes. People will be more objective when looking back a few weeks from now.

Its true though. What were the best chances in the game?

    1. Palacio (tap in scored but a fluke by keeper spilling the ball)
    2. Armstrong (tap in scored)
    3. Palacio (one on one, scored)
    4. OG (Armstrong should have scored, missed ball and came off the defender)
    5. Mackay-Steven (One on one probably should have scored)
    6. Griffiths (again similar to Mackay Steven but closer in, should have scored)
    7. Shaqiri (tight angle but through one on one)
    8. Guidetti (scored, not a great chance but through on goal)
    9. Henderson (again not a great chance but could have scored)
    10. Van Dijk (awkward header but only 8 yards out or so)

Unless im forgetting they were the only real chances in the game. Other than that I only recall Bitton shooting from about 40 yards and 1 or 2 shots from distance from Inter and a shot from Shaqiri from just inside the box but wasnt really a goalscoring chance. And a couple of freekicks 1/2 for either team - if any of them were goals then they'd have been great goals but they didnt really threaten.

Maribor wasn't a loud night though. I dont think dortmund would beat the atmosphere of inter game or the barca 2-1 night. Legia perhaps but they have a nutty ultras group who seem to get away with pyro and have loads of people standing. Even so how can it be possible to be louder than 60,000 people singing as loud as they can and jumping like in jcge or Celtic symphony? I'd say if we aren't the best on these nights we would be in the top 3 or 4. Thats why players go on about it. I'm yet to see this level of atmosphere in France, Spain, italy, Holland. Only germany and legia comes close in my opinion. Either way its very special all the same. HH

Regardless of how the goals were scored. Over the piece I'd say we were(slightly) the better team and probably created the better chances. It was a close game though and Inter are firmlyt in the driving seat for next Thursday.

This proves to me that they are more clinical than us, not that we should have won. This has happened how many times against continental sides?

It was Bitton with the header from 8 yards.

But it also means we got through them more than they did us to get those better chances.

I think we are capable of beating them away tbh, I dont think they are very good. If we go to Inter and beat them 3-1 for example, I wouldnt class it as an amazing shock or anything. Looking at them the other night we should be definitely scoring over there if not 2 or 3 goals, their defenders are very poor(unless they have their better defenders back).

Only thing is they are capable of scoring against us as well due to how open we play at the back.

They will be favourites as they have a higher calibre of footballer than us but our work-rate and speed, combined with their slowness and the clumsiness of their defenders gives us a good chance.

Nagatomo certainly won't, 50/50% if D'Ambrosio will or not. Andreolli is probably available against Cagliari.

Vidic seemingly isn't injured, but; http://football-italia.net/62912/vidic-mancini-row-celtic-park

It's certainly not true. I'm not going to sit here and analyze every single scoring chance over 90 minutes of football, but the fact that you're counting Bitton's header that, as far as I remember, went harmlessly out for a throw in, says a lot about your objectivity.

This right here is much closer to the truth than saying Inter only had 2 chances :)87:).

Back from Glasgow today - first time at paradise and what an introduction! I lost my voice at the end but I'm proud of our team and our fans.

Our defence still needs improving though, just like Inter's defence does, but i think we got much better later on in the game. They just seemed nervous at first, like they did against Salzburg. If Gordon played the way he usually does we'd have a good victory but that just makes me more ooptimistic about our chances at San Siro.

We have a good and very young team which will only get better :50:

Maybe but at the game I just felt like we were going to win and that it was a lot easier a game than I expected, we were under very little pressure and got good joy out your defence going forward.

No disrespect to you're team but out all decent(biggish name/teams with decent squads) European teams who ive seen at Celtic Park - Juventus, Barcelona, Porto, Villarreal, Liverpool, AC Milan, Benfica, Shakhtar, Bayern, Lyon, Ajax, Arsenal, Atletico Madrid, Hamburg, Udinese, Spartak Moscow, Salzburg etc this Inter team are easily the worst - the Ajax and AC Milan teams we played last year were better or played better anyway.
