Don't think he's a winger either, better in a central role.

He wasn't the only one who was pish today.

Not really. When he's played well he's been praised and is rightly being criticised for a poor performance today.

It's not being fickle. He's had some * howlers recently and yet seems to escape a lot of criticism that gets constantly flung at the likes of Stokes, Forrest and Commons.

Somebody even had a go at Stokes in the match thread today and he wasn't even * playing. :smiley-laughing002:

    Yeah.

I think the entire team has played quite poorly in the last 3 games and the 2 players under attack happen to be the 2 getting played out of position.

Did he not set up Brown when he got booked for diving? That was good play, which is more than most of the rest done, and if we get the penalty & score no one complains about him.

Is that a brown sauce roll? :)

Get used to it I'm afraid, he won't be moving to any other position while Brown and Bitton are fit in the middle. Only respite will be SC games coming up to see him not in that wide role. Hate to say it but Stokes may actually play that position better than Armstrong which is something I never thought I would say.

Hopefully that young guy from PSV we were monitoring is being looked at for that position next season.

Why don't we move Armstrong in the Johansen role, we've seen how good Johansen can be in any of the 3 positions behind the striker and the rest are flexible, commons can go right, Forrest can float although I prefer him right..

    Have to agree.

St Mirren we were pish but got the job done, Thistle game changed once the red card happened but up until then it was another stubborn performance and again today against Inverness.

Need to get it sorted for the run in.

Yes definitely. It happened to so many players this season but as you say one he is at that level of fitness then it'll be all good.

From what I watched I couldn't even tell you he was playing. If you take the Inter Milan game out, it's been disappointing so far from Armstrong...

Taking on a man and going on the outside, he's quite * at, deffo not his long term position..
Plays far too safe at the minute, loves cutting in and playing the simple side pass or a low one right across to Matthews (plays that one often)..

Still think we'll see better from him next year and when we eventually centralise him..

This is my thinking as well. He'll need to show more than he already has done, can't deny he's been disappointing when you compare him to Gary Mackay-Steven.

Still think a pre-season could change him the way it has to a few of the boys with Ronny :50:
