Not wanting a mediocre player to start =/ hatred. Get over it. It's not like he's been our best player for years (or at any point), plus the guy has a European goal drought that spans over 3 years. There are definitely glaring reasons to question his quality, as many have over the years (from fans to Lennon and Trappatoni).

I definitely think Mackay-Steven will be a big success here, let's hope all your apprehensions are proven wrong.

Stokes is a weird player. Tends to be average 75% of the time but is always up there in the goals and assists charts.

I'm hoping that he will be dislodged soon if GMS and Armstrong continue to impress.

What if Armstrong and GMS are impressive 100% of the time but are nowhere near the top of the goals and assist chart?

What the * do we do then?

Do we have players in the team at 100% but not scoring and assisting or do we bring a player back who is only effective 25% of the time but who scores and assists regularly?

    What a conundrum.

Well we won't know until that happens, if it does.

The two played tonight and both scored so I have no problem with Stokes sitting on the bench until that problem arises.

Stokes is being rested for the Inter match.

He is one of our best players this season.

I will be absolutely stunned if he doesn't start on the left against Inter.

Surely Ronny wouldn't be dropping him for two games in a row just to rest him for Inter? I could understand if he dropped him this weekend, but not tonight.

Strange point of view tbh. You admit that he scores and assists but you want him dislodged from the team. Tony doesnt catch the eye but he has gulie and is very under rated

Needs to get the new bhoys up to speed if we need them.

Stokes has been imperious in the LM position this year, madness to drop him after a new signing scores one goal.

Surely nobody thinks that is the way to go against Inter, dropping one of our best players?

We have a shitload of big games coming up, our best players will find themselves on the pitch for them.

Yes, because if he is dislodged it means that the new signings are performing well. No?

I've always said it, I just find him extremely frustrating. His decision making at times is poor, he has some amount of wild shots as well and just generally makes a lot of mistakes. A bit like Commons, a pain in the * but always looks good on paper.

Not one of our best against good opposition and not one for the big stage, wouldn't surprise me if its same attacking three against inter.

He's been good aye, but we can definitely improve.

I'm not saying it's the way to go but I wouldn't be too disheartened if he didn't start. I know it's said constantly but it's true, Stokes' European outings have by and large been pish.

I know what you're saying but if Armstrong and GMS start again at the weekend and both play well, I don't see why Ronny should drop them.

Stokes won't play against Inter Milan and rightly so.

I imagine Stokes will be on the pitch at some stage of the double legged tie against Inter Milan , whether he plays or not is another thing .

Average tonight. Alot of wayward passes & should of never of been MOTM. He scored a very good goal though.

Loved how every player in the team went over to congratulate them after his and GMS goals, real togetherness in the squad.
