Yes. Last year they were the first Swedish team to qualify for CL in fifteen years, and they did so by smashing Salzburg. Salzburg might be weaker this year than when we faced them last year, but before we faced them last year Malmo had already knocked them out in the play-offs (1-2 loss away, 3-0 win at home).

They've won the Swedish league two years in a row, which no team has done since 2003, and they were huge favourites coming into this season. However, they haven't been able to live up to the hype and are currently 6th (7 points off the top). Nontheless, they did just beat Salzburg - weakened or not - with 3-0 this year again, and they've only lost twice since may (one of the losses being against Salzburg, and both away from home).

Helsingborg was a fluke team - they've placed 5th, 6th and 9th in the league after winning it - us facing them when they placed 5th.

Even so, I'd still pick Malmo over Partizan and maybe Tel-Aviv. They'll be missing Rosenberg, their best player and the one who everything in their attack revolves around, in the first leg so we should be able to keep a clean sheet. Bag a couple of goals, and then we'll shut them down in Sweden.

Flawed comparison considering that was 2 seasons ago.

There's no chance Qarabag are better than Malmo, rarely troubled as us over 180 mins. Their much-lauded passing was nowhere to be seen on wednesday either.

We will need to provide a lot better service to Ciftci/Griffiths and be a lot more clinical with our chances than we have done in the last few games.

6th in Swedish league at present.....hmm, that is nothing to write home about! Id say we will be odds on favourites.

Don't care who they have beat or where they are in the league, we are Celtic and we should beat them comfortably

Funny, i can just imagine a swedish fan posting something similar on their blogs right now...

I think 1 or 2 nil win at home, 0-0 or 1-1 on away leg. Tough, but toughest? I disagree.

Highlights from their 3-0 victory against Salzburg. Malmø had 4 shots on goal and got 3 goals. Salzburg had 15 shots (6 on goal) and should have had a penalty.
Jo Inge Berget had 2 assists.

You can disagree all you want. This team are no mugs, they qualified for the Champions League last year, we didn't, they beat Salzburg with ease, they have a good record against Scottish teams.

They dumped Rangers out of the Champions League in 2011 and hammered Hibs 9-0 on aggregate in the Europa League qualifiers two years later.

They are tough nuts. Believe me :50:

No they are not,:31::31::31: they struggled to beat the team from Lituania 1-0, got pumped in Salzburg was 2-0 going on 5-0!

They got the luck of the game in the home leg, even though stats dont count for much if Salzburg actually had a striker on the pitch they would have scored 1 or 2 themselves, they are the 3rd lowest ranked team left in the competition, are 6th in their domestic league! Lost 5 out of 6 CL games last season.

2 of their top players (use the term top loosely) are banned for the first leg at CP, they have a guy who left aberdeen for League 1 in England and got found out and a guy who in 8 games with celtic looked worse than Rafael Schiedt, so please take you negativity and go and support someone else!:50:

Good info there mate. Quite clear Malmo are much butter than the Helsingborg team. Or were, apparently they lost a few good players, maybe that's why they've struggled in the league this season.

As long as Deila stops picking Ciftci over the predator Thumb we'll be ok.

We got humped by Salzburg, but somehow we wouldn't have gotten beat by Atlético Madrid and Juventus? A warming thought!

Åge Hareide, Malmö coach: "It's a good draw for us. Celtic are good of course but it will be a nice challenge for us."
