Used to like hime - the man is an astute businessman ad certainly it was always good to have him on our side.

Someone (think it was ILTC) said something interesting a while back. It is probably down to Peter that we get such a good deal with Nike (i.e. £6m a year), many other incompetants would struggle to get such a good deal. He probably has great connections aswell and I imagine he has a decent relationship with those in the SFA anf Uefa. However, if we fail to get a similar deal from Nike, then I would begin to question Lawwell's current tenure. I'm not being a petulant child and throwing the toys out of the pram but if he can't work any magic and get us decent deals anymore, then we may aswell just get a semi-decent CEO who takes half the pay or even a quarter of the pay. I mean Peter earns close to £1m a year, only Broony earns more - that is madness.

In saying that, Devlin is right he is just the face of Desmond's agenda. He does what he tells him to do. That said, Im sure we can find another competent CEO who will do the same, except for much less.

Peter is an arsepiece when it comes to fan relations aswell.

Obviously I'm guessing a bit here, but I'm pretty sure we're chucking Nike because of the lack of quality as much as they may be chucking us. Aston Villa and Everton both cancelled contracts with Nike. If anything, taking Nike money over quality would be one of the criticisms fans would usually level at Lawwell.

I honestly think we would struggle to find a CEO as good as Lawwell.

The financial situation in Scotland is uncertain. The quality of opposition isn't there. The Champions League is far from guaranteed. We can't offer decent wages. It would be foolish to be spending £15m in the transfer window. Bear in mind a more expensive players demands even higher wages.

Im with you but sometimes it is not about signing players rather keeping what you already have at the club. Letting Ledley go was stupid. It made no sense. If we offered him a deal at 30k per week for 4 years that would translate to just over 6million for the duration of the contract. That is value for money. If you where to pay a transfer fee for someone as good as or better than Ledley then 6 million would be where you would start and this does not even consider wage demands.

I highly doubt it. Nothing is certain yet anyway, we may still have them. However Peter is a money man, he'l want whoever gives us the most money. I highly doubt we would say no to NIke because of the quality.

They are a global brand, they can get you in most countries on earth. Can Umbro or Macron or any of that *? Nope.

He has been good for us, no doubt but he has his negativities. If we fail to secure decent deals now, then we may swell just get someone cheaper in.

This plus the fact that if we did just give him a £25k-£30k a week deal, we could have just sold him anyway. He would easily have went for £5m-£6m. Instead we offered natter and got £800k?

That is poor business. We let far too many players run their contract down, rather than offer them a good deal and sell them on for a decent penny.

That's a fair point, although Johansen is a similar player (workhorse, scores goals) and he costs considerably less.

I honestly don't think Ledley would've stayed at Celtic for the same money, and is there any evidence we didn't offer him the same?

It was just his time to leave. There's no challenge in Scotland and he was at an age were he had to give the Premier League a go. I remember Petrov left under similar circumstances.

Look at it from a different point of view. We kept Ledley here until we were absolutely sure he wasn't going to sign a contract. We could've told him to make the decision in the summer and took a few extra million (plus 30k p/w off the books), but we knocked back that in the hope he might stay.

It's obviously things both of us can only speculate on. All I would say is Villa and Everton are reasonably similar to us (similarly priced deals) and they've knocked back Nike for less money at Umbro and Macron.

The price of Nike kit is extortion aswell. We must lose some revenue because of that. People can't afford it anymore. Buying a Celtic top is a secondary thought for me now because of the price.

This is not happening. If you spend 10 million in a summer but take in 15 million, technically we are not spending.

Have some respect that over bloated squad of duds as you call them only lost 1 game last season. Granted Sammy and Ledley are massive losses but on paper we have not been weakened in GK. We have strengthened central defence and centre forward.

This is not the first time you have spread propaganda, i hope you are not conscious of this fact but are merely misinformed. I also think your lack of respect for Lennon to be despicable.

We must be stockpiling a pile then. Last summer we sold £20m worth of players and got an extra £25m in due to Europe.

£10m though. Magic, that'll go a long way.

If you can't respect a Celtic legend you're cringeworthy by the way. Simple as that.

It is up to Ronny Delia to earn my respect amigo. This may surprise you but fundamentally i have nothing against him. Up until now, i am worried about what i have seen from him and unless he starts to improve then i will call it as i see it.

It may also surprise you to know that at the time i thought that appointing Lennon was a mistake. I thought we needed a proven experienced manager to fix the TM season. How wrong was I?

The point is that if RD starts to do the business, then there will be no complaints from me but as long as criticism is due then he will have it. I think that is fair enough.

The same overheads that Lawwell has said gets addressed without Europe? Off of our own revenues rather than needing to sell players?

Or are you saying Lawwell is a liar or he's that incompetent he needs an extra £45m to finance the club?

League champions 3 times in a row.

2 Scottish Cups.

The best defence i have ever seen in the hoops.

A very strong squad with depth in every position except for left back.

No manager has ever taken on our job in a better position of strength than RD. The state Lennon left us in was as good as any manager could ever hope for.

 The issue isn’t so much what we don’t spend, the issue is what we do spend money on and the millions and millions we squander each year. Our resources dwarf the likes of Maribor, Elfsborg, Karagandy so we have to look at why we continually struggle against these sides.
