No way GMS or Armstrong will start that game.

    2nd leg? possibly.

Their game against Napoli is on Sky tonight, going to watch it.

Although Napoli are a class above us it will still give me an idea of what some of the Inter players are like at the moment. The whole place seems to be in chaos.

    Strange statement.

    Two entirely different midfielders.

I think Bitton must start these games, we will need him sitting in there. Also keep in mind Armstrong hasn't played as a proper CM in a couple years yet you want to chuck him into a game at CP infront of 60,000 against Inter Milan ?

In a game like this I don't want the 2 holding players to provide a goal threat. Their main job is to defend well and protect that defence. It's not the Huns we are playing now.

I know what your saying Sean, but I believe Armstrong is good enough to make that step up.

And quality in the midfield will decide the game.

I think Guidetti's better but wouldn't be upset if grif was in.

I did say I don't think they'll be thrown in against Inter but I also think they are better than who they'd be replacing.

We could always drop commons and move Armstrong forward to accommodate bitton.

I think the signing of Armstrong allows us to drop brown back and have him as a holding mid. Someone to break up their attack before it breaks onto our defence. I think Brown would be excellent at playing just in front of the defence. He likes putting in a meaty challenge.

How some fans can so easily ditch the players who have been brilliant for us for players who havent even played a game in a celtic shirt.

Biton for me, outwith brown, was our best player on Sunday and is one of our most in form players. He complements brown brilliantly and the recent opinion that he couldnt handle a physical game was completely ripped apart at the weekend.

The boys a cracking player and should remain in our team. If anybody gets dropped for Armstrong its Stokes who goes missing in every european game but even then he deserves a crack at Inter.

We didn't play a team worth talking about on sunday. The current team is in no way brilliant. We got knocked out the CL that often this year we looked like a weeble (look it up).

But it's all about opinions. I've watched GMS and Armstrong and think they are better than what we have.

Agree with your post mate. And to give us a more solid shape I wouldn't start with Stokes harsh on him but we need to be tighter in formation or we will be exposed.

We're on our way up that's for sure. Great form. Playing well as a whole unit. Milan, despite their poor form will still be our biggest challenge this season. Although, what would you fancy Salzburg beating Inter?

We're in for a realistic shout against these now.

Doubt he'll play GMS and Armstrong, if he does play one it will probably be Armstrong and it won't be at CM it'll be somewhere in the 3 behind the striker.

The reason i think people might advocate starting Armstrong and GMS is because they are both quicker and fitter than Stokes and Commons, we will need that to keep a high tempo if we are to beat Inter.

Dunno much about Inter so i dunno if speed or guile is required. They are both cup tied this weekend so that only leaves 2 games for them to impress. Unless they have blinders in those games, i cant see them starting against Inter.

On their 18 yard line defending; they seem to break a back 4 in to a back 3 with one central defender rushing out to close down.

Conversely, when they are higher up the pitch they break the back 4 in to a back three with one central defender dropping much deeper in to the sweeper position with a midfielder covering n front of the back 3.

The latter appears like it would stretch the middle of the park creating more space for them to find runners when they are on the ball, especially if the opposition team plays a high pressing game.

Without the ball; breaking through the middle for us may be awkward but width might prove beneficial. Again though, this stretches the game horizontally as well as vertically.

I'm interested in seeing how we approach this game, if they use similar tactics.

One thing thats apparent is we may be allowed time on the ball in an open game played in all areas of the pitch. Losing the ball through sloppy passes could leave us very exposed to counter attacks if we press high up the park.

Looking at differences in defences, we like to push fullback high. Split centre backs wider with a midfielder dropping in making it a 3.

Or one CB goes a wander with a midfielder covering and a full back dropping deeper to keep three, mostly 2 at the back when teams are camped in, which is sadly the majority of the time.

Ers ma tactical insight probably a load of baws mind you. Haw Haw!
