We've been playing quite well recently.

He still needs to do some work on how we set up when we don't have the ball (tactically and mentally).

    Getting better...

Even when we play well I can’t stand to watch this team. Why? Because with the players he chooses are so limited in their skill set and the fact that he thinks he need 5 midfielders plating against teams where the second richest team in the league has 1/10 the budget of his team. On this score he is guilty of nothing more than knowing nothing about Scottish Football. Though I would ask how long it would take him to learn this. <?xml:namespace prefix = "o" ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:eek:ffice:eek:ffice" /><o:p></o:p>

Celtic must always play 4-4-2. Any variation on 4-3-3 is out because the 3rd midfielder is to win a midfield battle. The last true midfield battle we had in Scotland was when Aberdeen defeated us in the cup last season. Scottish teams don’t engage in midfield battles with Celtic, the concentrate on defence and leave Celtic with possession. <o:p></o:p>
    <o:p> </o:p>
Why do the wide players play so wide and deep? Look at Stokes and whoever is playing at RM, they have no connection with the CF whatsoever. <o:p></o:p>
    <o:p> </o:p>
If we played with Kayal and Bitton in CM and Brown and Commons in their old wide positions with Guidetti and Griffiths as a partnership we could seriously double our goal tally as opposed to if we stick with the same usual starting line-up.<o:p></o:p>
    <o:p> </o:p>
If he must insist on 4-3-3 then he must realise that Johansson will never score as many as Commons and will never create as many as Commons no matter how well he plays. He must also play what amounts to inside forwards in the widish positions. Players who can run and can score goals and who will stay fit, to which I don’t think we have a single such player at the club who fit on all 3 counts. Forrest is never fit, don’t like Wakasso or Tonev, McGregor would be ok on the left only, though I don’t think he has enough quality, Stokes is like a fish out of water, Boerrigter oh FFS, he chucked it as soon as he seen the first typical Scottish Football tackle. <o:p></o:p>
    <o:p> </o:p>
One last point. I do not think that Leigh Griffiths would ever be capable of attaining a name like the King of Kings. I do think that he could score minimum 30 goals a season for Celtic over the next 4 or 5 years. How * valuable is that and we seem to be chucking him out like yesterdays news. Also why am I the only one concerned about this? <o:p></o:p>

I agree with some points, but I think it's generally accepted Deila uses his tactic because it's the one he thinks will allow us to progress in Europe in the long term, which is probably true.

I'd like to see Griffiths play more too. I think he should play wide right/inside forward. He's got the pace and stamina to hound teams, he can shoot and he can go past people.

He does well when he comes on but we won't see his best until he's got a few 90 mins in a row with the our first 10 (Guidetti especially).

I though we were slow and pedestrian against Thistle. I said to the guy next to me just before VVD scored that's its a set piece or nothing. (I know, easy to say that I did after the event).

If we play slowly and timidly we will never score from open play.

We don’t play the same game domestically as in Europe. Some sort of change would be needed from classic 4-4-2 in Europe true. It is a way of playing that keeps possession high up the pitch for long periods with high pressing in the oppositions half. This is not possible against all but part time teams in Europe.<?xml:namespace prefix = "o" ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:eek:ffice:eek:ffice" /><o:p></o:p>

Every new manager picks on some players from the old regime and discards them. NL done this to Rasmussen, who done nothing wrong and would have been a decent back-up to Hooper and Stokes, and Darren O’Dea, who was a million times better than Majstorovic and easily the equal of Charlie Mulgrew at CB. Though at least Lennon never discarded his two best goalscorers, Commons (minimum 20 goals) and Griffiths (minimum 30 goals). <o:p></o:p>

I agree. I hate the 451/433 and agree Commons should be in the team. We are easier to hit on the counter this season as well. Im prepared to give the manager 1 more chance. If he fails to qualify for the groups next season then we have to do whatever it takes to get Strachan back.

We played some of our best football this season against Partick mate. The only thing we couldn't do was finish, which is not Deila's fault whatsoever.

We had 21 shots, with 8 of them on target. We could, and should have won by 4 or 5. Not bad for being slow and pedestrian.

I really don't know at this stage. Too early to judge the manager. He needs another transfer window at least! The players we signed in the summer bar one or two tops weren't good enough.

Managers should really be given two years to prove themselves. I think Deila's tactics are starting to gel. Fitness levels are improving but stilll aren't quite where he needs them to be and he hasn't really had time to pick the team he wants. Realistically, this season is just a transition even if we're still doing well. I have high hopes for 2015-16! :50:

This is the closest you'll ever have two years to prove yourself at Celtic. Mostly because we are already going to win the league.

I'm warming to him now but that European qualification was truly embarrassing stuff.

Our team are still pretty *, we're no very convincing against 11 men. Most of our 'big' wins have came from playing against 10 men. We will see, things are looking better than they were a couple months ago. A good couple of transfer windows and he'll be sorted.

The guy wants to play quick aggressive attacking football, who doesn't want that?some players simply aren't good enough to play this style, hopefully Ronny gets another couple of transfer windows to transform this team

He needs his own players, right now the only player that could be classed as his own is Johansen, buts that's only down to circumstance.

A lot of players seem to not be getting back, as-well as pushing up too much, I think he is trying to get the team playing the way he wants but without the right players to do so.

Hopefully everything domestically goes the way it's already going, we could be in with a chance at the treble. I said, along with a few other at the start of the season that I didn't care about Europe this season as I didn't think the team would be up for it, so if we were to go out in the last 32, of the Europa and win the league and possible the two cups, I'd be happy, so long as Deila gets money to spend on bringing in his own players.

But we really need a decent turn around of players, with a decent number leaving and a decent number coming in, in my opinion.

Still 50/50 on him will see how he goes in the next two windows and the champions league qualifying next season.
