I don't think he's particularly good at running with the ball and beating players, when he gets the ball off the shoulder of the defender is when he's dangerous for me.

And even when that's not possible we see players pinned back because of it, like what happened to Coleman and McGeady against Ireland or Piszczek against Poland.

Clyne had the beating of him though, no doubt.

I would like us to get Robbie Brady as well but I do think both Bannan and Brady are out of our reach at the moment.

I thought Martin looked too similar to Naismith, both of them decent in the air and get tore in but lack any skill or class on the ball to hold it or beat players and create space for themselves. Fletcher when he plays has a bit of skill on the ball and is able to hold off and turn defenders and let others get moving round him, Martin and Naismith can win the ball or that but cant hold it for any amount of time as they dont have the touch/skill to get away from people when they do get it and since Scotland were pinned in quite deep then they couldnt get forward at all.

For me last night was just another kick in the nuts after the referendum result. The crowd seems to be suffering from a identity crises, they dont know whether to sing the" flower of scotland" or not,if we do sing it are we perceived as yessers or nae?The players certainly in the ireland game did'nt seem to be singing it at all, apart from malloney who mumbled his way through it.The whole night seemed very flat and the teams performance matched that, we made England look good.

Naismith's ability to create space is World Class. He is one of the best in the Premiership at it.

Martin is nowhere even close to him in terms of ability.

Id say its the opposite, he's good at getting into space but his touch and ball control let him down in possession. He gets into space very well, timing runs into the box like Lampard did or Petrov for us or even just outside or around the box that in addition to his running/closing down/ball winning and good ability in the air makes him good.

But he still lacks subtlety on the ball, touch is poor a lot, cant get away from players, passing lets him down - compared to Maloney for example or even Snodgrass, Forrest or Johnny Russell who are all better on the ball than him.

    Anti-climax.

The Ireland game was the only game that really mattered though.

Didnt feel any real connection to the Scotland fans which I was gutted about, too many Huns about me and on the bus home. Couldn't imagine hugging one of they * if Scotland scored. Not sure id go to another Scotland game.

Hart is pish so not having that one

Who's your first choice right back then? Glen Johnson :smiley-laughing002:

Jagielka is hardly a big loss, he was mince at the World Cup

Milner instead of Walcott, yup you can have that one obviously, Walcott is good for you

Henderson or Wilshere is much of a muchness....although Wilshere did more last night than I've ever seen Henderson do for you

    Oxlade-Chamberlain would start with Sterling

Welbeck instead of Sturridge as well

Although you wouldn't play that team, Wilshere and Henderson will play in the middle......you can have two of them who were missing then, Sturridge and Sterling

It's like me saying we were missing Gordon, Hutton, D Fletcher, Forrest, Snodgrass and S Fletcher

Which you could argue we were, as they would all be 1st choice for many Scotland fans

    You beat us, fair play

If you wanna rub it in cos you beat a country the 10th of your size, then that says more about you than us

I don't know whether it's true or not, rumor is there was a couple of pro-independence Scots wearing Delije Sever t-shirts in the Scotland support against england..

Apart from maybe Stewart Downing, there could be case for any of the others being regular starters to be fair. Clyne for example for me, is a far better player than Glen Johsnon. There are a few others like that also.
