Fair enough, I think that he would score for us though. I think he suits the style at the moment, and he showed against Gibraltor he's quite good at scoring against dross :icon_mrgreen:

Agreed mate, midfield runners going beyond him.

Things like this would be * excellent in Europe:

    [ame]http://youtu.be/QlOPIKKNKK0[/ame]

Drops deep, drags a defender out of position, holds it up, inch perfect pass to a winger isolated on a defender and the balls and easy one into the middle because Fletchers dragged 3 players down to where he is.

That's the kind of play we don't often see for Celtic.

Steven Fletcher is expected to still be a Sunderland player after the transfer deadline, despite speculation linking him with a move to Celtic.

Reports yesterday indicated that Celtic were eyeing a season-long loan for Fletcher, which would take him to the end of his contract at the Stadium of Light.

Celtic admitted they were interested in the Scotland striker earlier this summer, but pulled out of any potential switch due to problems meeting the 28-year-old’s Sunderland salary.

However, the Echo understands that Celtic are NOT actively pursuing Fletcher and the £12million frontman is likely to remain on Wearside after the transfer window close

So that would be twice now that kramaric would have been our back up plan. As much as I would love to have him, he should really tell us to get to * with the way we have treated him

Got the feeling we won't sign a striker. Gonna be a disaster if we don't :99: .

sure im read in the metro today that he couldn't be "sold" on a move to celtic, another one of those people that say how much a fan they are in the media and how much they would love to play for celtic but when it comes down to it, talking *.

There is nothing that would sell me on a move either, if I had to drop half my wages. The days of signing these types of players (decent leagues) are well gone. The best we can hope for is reserve players or young players on loan. Does anyone know how much Fletcher is earning? I'm guessing it's about £40k a week at least. We couldn't even justify half of that on him.

If he couldn't be 'sold' on a move then that surely that would have been clear pretty early on.

Why do we waste our time with overpaid EPL players. Particularly in the dying moments of the window.

If they aren't interested then move on, quick.

I think it was a loan move tho, so he woukdn't have made less money, he probably went quiet after we got knocked out champions league

im not that bothered nor do I think he is the sort of player we should go for anyway

I think that we need to pay a fee plus wages (a percentage perhaps) to get players on loan mate.

I wasn't too keen on him either but he'd definitely do a job.

    That's what's * me off too.

It doesn't take that long to figure out whether a player wants to join your club or not. I simply refuse to believe that Fletcher and Michu were the only two strikers we were looking at bringing in on loan.

They are so used to EPL wages and everything being about money down there that there was almost no chance of us attracting them. Even if we had made the CL proper, it would still have been a big ask to get one of them to join us.

Close one that........mind you now that we have no striker signed......were even worse off. * me, never thought I'd regret not signing that lampost, but a lampost is better than none I guess.

    Dire Peter......just dire.

Fletcher was more than willing to come Celtic, clubs just couldn't agree terms about wages.

Celtic: Steven Fletcher deadline day loan move stalled

Celtic failed to sign Sunderland and Scotland striker Steven Fletcher on loan before the transfer window closed, BBC Scotland has learned.
The Scottish Premiership champions made their attempt hours ahead of the window closing on 1 September.
We understand the player was willing to join Celtic but Sunderland refused to allow the move to go ahead.
Sunderland signed Fletcher, 28, from Wolves in August 2012 for an initial fee of £12m.

There was no way wee * was gonna help Celtic out and strengthen our strike force.

He's still raging we sent him home with his tail between his legs back in 2001/2002.

I also forgot he was their manager to be honest.

Still not good enough in my opinion, even if it does happen in January. I refuse to believe he was the only reasonable striking option we had available to us.

We're now going into European competition against two historically very good sides with only one reliable striker.
