    Actually no, the 2-minute silence was moved to Sunday during WW2, since people were off, as not to interfere with wartime production when the 11th fell on a weekday.

    Having the 2-minute silence on the 11th was rare after WW2 and only re-started in 90s, probably as WW1 veterans died off.

    well said. theres no point breaking the silence, as the commentators will pick up on it and bad mouth the supporters and the club.

    if you can't observe the silence then skip it.

    We're not at home... this is Aberdeens choice of time to honour the war dead, and if any of us don't like that then we can go and * ourselves. its got nothing to do with us other than our ability,or lack thereof, to show respect in someone elses ground. people should remember that when we expect others to respect our causes...

    I don't understand this, they are just looking for something to happen to blast us in media. As someone said above don't enter until the silence is over or just before it happens walk back out. Can see there being trouble with this, just asking for it.

    any... its not a * cryptic response... if we want respect from others we should show it to them. its not like shutting your mouth and standing still is some kind of mortal act for people to perform. our continuing inability to just ignore this * is why its plastered everywhere every year and such a big deal. if people don't like the poppies then don't buy them, but the silence is in remembrance of the war dead... from all countries, and civilians also... think of that, show common courtesy and leave the issue with no fuel to fire it

    To be fair, it's a non-issue whether you support a silence or not. In Scotland it's another stick used to hit Celtic with if anyone makes a noise. They try it every year and it's been ages since we were stupid enough to fall for it. If they really cared they'd have applause which is something they also turn down year-on-year.

    If it's not cryptic then tell me what "causes" we expect others to respect? Just one will do.

    As for the silence, that's what the 11th is for, not a football match.

    We get * arrested for remembering Irish war heroes yet we are expected to respectfully observe this?

    * that!

    which is also wrong, but we can't begin to call for any support when the first response is 'well you attack the Remembrance celebration every single year'.
    Aberdeen FC wish to show their respects. they don't have a game on the 11th so are using this. its got nothing to do with us if that's going to be the case, all we can affect is whether or not we will disrupt their display. if you feel it shouldn't be held at OUR home games then have it put up at the AGM to boycott it, but when it comes to a vote you know how that will work out.

    Regardless of whether our fans support the silence or not, interrupting it is pointless. All that succeeds in doing is making the club and our fans look bad and fuelling the media stories. Best thing to do is go into the ground after the minutes silence if you object to it strongly and don't want to be a part of it.

    Do Aberdeen have a silence every year on their closest game to the 11th?

    then why do German, French, Italian servicemen and politicians attend these events? Why do foreign politicians from all over the world? you're seeing what you want to see and acting out on it.. if you don't want to partake then abstain, but you've no right to attempt to force others to because of what you think.
