The run continues we've been drawn away in 18 of the last 20 Scottish Cup draws :56:

Got a friend to do the maths for me on this a while back, statistics are his thing. I cant mind the figure he gave me 6000-1 or something. Losing 18 out of 20 coin flips just doesn't happen in probability. But then there is statistical anomalies every single week when someone wins the lotto. The human mind cannot properly understand probability if it did the lotto would not exist. This is getting weird though!

Makes no difference I think we play better at small grounds with better atmosphere than an empty Celtic Park

    Agree.

Away ties are probably doing us a favour at the minute, we've been poor at Celtic Park for a good while now.

Every draw something really unlikely happens and this time it's with Hearts. It feels like SFA are trying to force a game between us and sevco by pairing all the other decent teams together. First we have a clash between the 2nd and the 3rd best team of Scotland and then the winner play it's biggest rival.

It's annoying as *, but didn't someone post something that said if we take all the matches in cups into account over our entire history it's like 55% away and 45% home. If so we clearly had huge swathes of home games at some point.

First fix would need to be those doing the draw.....every single person involved over the years would have to be in on it...otherwise some one would have spoken out by now.

Its much less risk to just give us a hun ref.

Hot balls.....load of balls if you ask me.

I would much rather play away. Better atmosphere having a nice packed ground. ether way we will be favorites.

Statisitically the lottery is almost guarenteed a winner with the amount of tickets placed. Statisitically, it's practically guarenteed to not be you.

Indeed and if you understand probability properly not a single ticket would be bought. I am living proof as I know this to be true but yet I still do it now and then.

Exactly. That is the rationale I use when I play it despite reading a paper on the probability of not winning it. Proving the point that most people cant grasp probability properly!

The odds of Celtic being drawn 18 away ties from 20 is 0.000181 or 1 in 5519.

Might stick a tenner on the next 18 out of 20.

Whilst I can see the whole home/away overall statistic, I'm more thinking in recent times due to the old club dieing and the new one coming into play, probably paranoid but just think this obscene amount of away games points to trying to negate the opportunity to mount a few trophies aloft.

We all know it's a fact we're away to Hearts, United, ICT/Well in the next round.

Has nothing to do with favourable/unfavourable draws. The most money ANY Club in Scotland will make for a fixture is a home tie, on TV, against Celtic.

Is it peculiar then that 18 of our last 20 ties, with a 50/50 chance of being drawn at home have all been away?

Not for me. Warm baws, whatever.

Prefer away ties. Look at our home cup record....generally *, albeit in league cup.
So more than happy to be drawn away

Lawwell does his best to block home ties being televised though as less punters come in through the door. A policy I agree with.
