    How'd that Mark Hill do?

Curious to see how he is progressing as he made his debut for the Hamilton first team at 14, 3-4 years ago.

Tommy McIntyre was disappointed that his charges never capitalised on their periods of dominance in the UEFA Youth League second round first-leg defeat to Puskas Akademia.
The Bhoys worked their way into a number of promising positions, particularly in the second period, but were unable to plot a route to goal.
And they were made to pay in the 90th minute as Alex Damasdi’s shot slipped through goalkeeper Colin McCabe’s hands to gift the home side a 1-0 victory.
Six minutes earlier, the young Celts had been reduced to 10 men after Joe Thomson saw red for an off-the-ball incident.
It was a frustrating end to the match for McIntyre, but he refused to get too dismayed about the final outcome, with the return match still to follow later this month in Livingston.

Speaking to the official website after the game, the Professional Academy Manager said: “In the first half they were the better team. They were physical, as we knew they would be, and they mixed it up a little bit.
“We didn’t quite get to grips with the game in stages, but there was a period in the second half when we looked dominant, where we looked like we could go on and possibly score.
“We didn’t ask enough questions of their back four and we said that to them at half time. We never knew how good defensively they were as we never tested them as much as we should have done. We lacked a bit of penetration.
“Our back four and the goalkeeper did really well until the goal. Anything they created was from long range so they never really cut us open and got in behind us. We looked comfortable and I could see the game finishing at 0-0, which would have been a better result.
“I was obviously disappointed to lose the goal but we can’t blame the goalkeeper, who has done well through the night, and it was just one of those things.
“We forget about that, move on and focus on what we could have done better in the game, and there were a lot of things we could improve on, particularly when we had a grip on the game we never made it count.
“While there were periods when we did control the contest, I was disappointed that we never finished it off, but it’s half time and we still have the second half to play back home.
“They made it difficult for us and we would have liked to have played better. But we can’t be too despondent. They are a good side and we will learn from this leg and we will prepare for the next game where we can hopefully get a positive result.”

*, can't believe I missed this and it was streamed too :31:

Sounds like Puskas are a huge step up from Helsinki. Also sounds like we had a good spell in the game where we should've taken the lead. Nightmare for McCabe but it's no big deal, happens to every keeper now and again. Anyone know the date of the second leg? That should be a good one, so much to play for, hope that's streamed too. What is the Irish lad Kelleher like btw? He got much chance of competing with Blackett for a place?

Cheers for the updates and interview Crow even though I'm a little bit late :50:

Findlay's doing well at Killie too so he's at least SPFL standard. Would be good if we could produce our own CB, hope at least one of them comes through.

I forgot all about him good to see he's doing well.

Great news thanks :50: how cool would it be if we produced our own defenders. Tierney is a good start, hope Kelleher can make it too.

Good to hear, he'll be experienced. Out of all the positions, defence is the one we most need players challenging for. Blackett didn't look good when he was introduced last night so that could be an opportunity for the two lads to get a chance soon.

    No problem.

I've said from the start Tierney is one to watch.

Kelleher will be another one who will do well for Celtic

can't do any harm giving him and others a chance

Yeah it can only be good. Experiencing first team football is the only way for a player to find out if he has a chance of being successful as a professional footballer. And if they are going to be successful then it benefits us cause we get a quality player for the basic costs of the education. I think Tierney would probably cost us £5m if we tried to sign him from another club. A full back who can cross a ball and strike a decent shot, EPL teams will be all over him. I'm glad he signed a 4 year contract. Hopefully see Kelleher and Nesbitt soon. Should've played them last night :87:
