Followed by "already sitting there and he was eating a packet of crisps – with a fizzy drink. I said to myself: ‘Welcome to *.’” Hardly complimentary.
He manages to pay him a compliment then take it back before the sentence is finished.

    Still a good word :50:

I don't think you can judge by the excerpts. It's always the controversial stuff that gets put out there.

And no Pro should be eating crisps and drinking * fizzy jokes.

Can't imagine how good Hartson could've been if he'd bothered his *.

I suppose as good as it gets. John should be honoured.

I was under the impression his whole book was pretty controversial but I suppose that is the impression they are trying to convey to promote sales.

Just as well for us because if he was a level higher we would never have gotten him.

I think that is Keane's thinking. You wouldn't see players carrying on like that at United. Fair enough, we're in a * footballing country, but also to be surrounded by semi-pros within your own team? Just aggravating.

The man is spiteful, vindictive and full of *. People claiming he'll make a great manager one day, on what evidence?

His scorched earth approach to relationships will get him nowhere.

His pedigree, knowledge of the game, and achievements are second to none.

Keep reading the tabloids, though. :50:

My mate was in the reserves back then, Hartson used to hit the treadmill and as soon as the coaching staff left the room, turn it off and go talk to the younger players :56:

Cracking player but not an athlete :56:

I'll keep looking at the league tables that show him up for the clueless manager that he is. If you think every player with a pedigree like Keane's makes a great manager then you are deluded.

And you don't need to read the tabloids to know the man is a wankstain, he does that job in his own books. Keep reading them :50:

    This :50:

I am so glad we 'missed out' on Roy Keane. His transfer record is horrifically bad.

I've said my piece on Keane here before and most will know I don't think much of him. I've actually started to feel a bit sorry for the guy recently. He strikes me as a the ultimate pessimist, almost to the point where he comes across like someone suffering from depression. He's practically become a caricature of himself.

He's a guy who should be admired throughout the footballing world and adored by Man Utd fans but every time he opens his mouth he comes across as a spiteful individual.

Im goin to stick up for Keane here. The medias excerpts dont really do him justice. The media painted the picture that Keane signed for us out of spite, as Strachan wasnt so keen (no pun intended) on signing him. didnt seem fussed and that it was DD who was the more eager.
But he states that he wanted to prove to Strachan that he was worthy of a playing for us and that he still had something to offer. Like a mini challenge to himself.
He states that he was embaressed about his time at celtic as he did not play as many games as he would have liked due to a persistant hip injury that he had to take injections for. He looked forward to playing in the derbies v Rangers, and how many of our signings in the past can say they were man of the match in their first derby?
He complaments Tommy Burns and the family feeling at Celtic.

But he conceeds that he was maybe done before he signed. Thers an obvious expression that he wished he could have done more to live upto the name. That he was being forced to push his limits given the state of his hip.

The media didnt highlight all this. They only take the things he has said and put a negative spin on it.
