Says it all in the title said it in the Scottish one but everybody was to busy fighting with each other so with closing demographics and the centenary of the easter rising fast approaching I think the time is ripe to demand a border poll of the north or do people think it's probably a bit premature to ask or should he move forward now

From an outside perspective I'd say wait till the irish economy has recovered more, it would also have been easier to sell it to "ulster-scots" if Scotland was no longer part of the UK...

I think probably the main reason I was interested in the Scottish debate was for exactly that reason just think if we don't some of the younger irish population will assimilate to becoming "northern irish" just like down here with people not caring over lack of debate about it but if people do accept been "northern irish" it will be from the other community to which could be massive in swaying it makes economic sense to be part of the republic as apposed to Britain for businesses especially near the border even a close vote I think could reglavnies the whole republican moment in the rest of Ireland I know sinn fein have down really well the past few elections but I think that's down people just being fed up with the other partys as opposed to actual interest in republicism

They would vote to stay I really don't see what we have that would get anybody apart from nationalists to vote yes.
Plus we are having trouble enough keeping the 26 cant throw another six in on top with the state the country is in financialy now.

If Sinn Fein manage to become the largest party in the Republic then I reckon it could do more for a United Ireland than anything else, it'll give them some sort of platform to push for further integration between the two government until they eventually become one

He's just saying he can't see a point because we would be unlikely to win but the north would be economically good for Ireland
