And even then the Irish chants (in support) tended to be louder.

To be fair, that and suggesting that the scots fans were quiet for 90 minutes apart from the goal and when McGeady touched it is absolutely ridiculous.

This discussion needs to find some grounding in reality before the whole forum falls through Alice's * looking glass. :smiley-laughing002:

The Scots (and Irish) supporting was * magnificent from start to finish. :50:

I thought the atmosphere was to be honest.

In no way is it ridiculous to assert that. The Scots were disappointing, I thought. Jeering and booing is all you heard out of them for the most part. I commented in the match thread at the time, the first song they sung was 'Flower of Scotland' at the half-hour mark. I vaguely recall that being re-sung maybe once or twice, but nope. Hardly a peep.

You sure did excel at booing the Fields of Athenry, Soldier Song, JCGE, etc. though. If I was a Scots-Celtic fan, I know who I'd be following. :50::icon_mrgreen:

The jocks did well at the start but the booing * them up when they tried to get songs going the paddy's on the other hand only have one line to sing so it's easier for them after all the talk off hostilities between the 2 fans was bullshit and I'm sure the jocks will be welcomed in Dublin as long as yous go to temple bar lads it's a must see

I don't think it did to be honest. I've never seen McGeady that defensively involved in a game before. He worked very hard. In attack he created most of the few chances Ireland had too.

I wonder would the Scotland fans have actually supported their team if McGeady had not been playing. For not minutes they concentrated on being negative. I could well be said that McGeady had more effect on the Scottish support than they had on him.

See this "Do A deer" pish you hear at games, load of *.

While its *, it does seem to be the only song that the fans sing as one.

Although on the other hand, you've got Broony, Mulgrew, Marshall, Maloney and Gordon to cheer on.

As opposed to McGeady and erm.......Robbie Keane?

I was at Wembley and when we went 2-1 up, pretty much every Scot in the ground was singing it, one of the greatest things I've ever heard and something I'll never forget, just stood there staring around, had a wee tear in my eye.

Ridiculous yet brilliant, I think that's the beauty of it.

Well said Gunt. I am always cheering for Scotland except on a day like Friday and love to see Scotland do well. I would love to see us both make it out of the group and hopefully we both will be able to although with Poland doing so well that is going to be really tough.

    Yep.
Hopefully Scotland score loads against Gibraltar instead of the usual crap they play against smaller teams.
