How do you know the same people are involved. Only a portion of our fans are into the Irish republican stuff. I and many tims I know only sing football songs.

The team walks out to Let The People Sing. Let's not let this get silly.

Forcing a player to play for a country he does not want to play for is not very ethical.

Nor did Seamus Coleman. I don't like it, but it doesn't mean anything.

Houghton waited a few years. That is the least I think a player should do before taking the massive step of playing for another country. I personally dont think the granny rule should be allowed before 21 when the player is a bit more mature, knows his own mind and has escaped parental influence to some degree. The rule should be that at 21 a player can give a final offer to his own country and if they are not interested then they can go off with everyone's blessing and play for another country. I would respect that choice.

Personally I think other countries should not be able to try and ensnare really young blokes. I see that as predatory and wrong. Did the Irish really give too hoots about Aidan making himself unpopular for life in his own country when he could have been a hero? Fair enough when he is 21 or after and knows his own mind - you dont have a clue how you will feel later at 15-but not kids. That is just wrong IMO. You could put someone in a position where they feel obliged to play for another country because they trained you for years when you are a kid.

Who mentioned Irish republicanism? Or is everything Irish a problem for you?

Well you must be an odd fish because the normal idea is its only * who cannot drop club biases at international games. Its a big big no-no with the modern Tartan Army, especially OF stuff or religion.

He's arguably the best right back in the premier league mate, I'm sure we all would.

Its you who is obsessed with everything Irish mate and seem to bring it into a Scotland thread. When Scotland play club football and other countries or our club heritage are irrelevant. Its just a different fish altogether. OK you may think you can combine supporting Ireland and Celtic because you are primarily into the Irish heritage part of Celtic. However most Scotland supporting fans of both Celtic and Sevco have the opposite view and keep club and the whole orange/green thing as far away as possible.

Hate when players don't sing the anthem. Scott Brown never does but it's difficult to get annoyed with Broony about anything. Great *.

Ok when Ireland had Liverpool players playing for them did Man U/Ireland fans bring club * into international football and like those players any less You leave club stuff at home in international football or you do not understand international football at all. OK by chance an Ireland supporting Celtic supporter does have an overlap in songs etc but that is really an exception and doesnt apply to Scotland games. Singing of club stuff at international games is in most cases frowned upon as divisive. You just happen to be part of a rare exception to the rule as you are an English Ireland supporting Celtic fan so you have an overlap in songs and symbols. That doesnt work at all in most instances.

    ?

This is not a Scottish thread. It is the Scotland v Ireland thread in World football. So sorry but you can't stop Irish folk having their say.

    Two things.

1.As an Irish supporter I have never had to support players of my rivals.

    2. I have never and would never boo a Celtic player playing against Ireland.

Your whole premise falls down because you claim I am an exception but it is probably more of a case of Scotland being more of an exception. That is not a problem. That you can't appreciate this is the problem
