Tragic stuff you don't expect that to happen when you attend a football match

I was up in section 444 tonight right at the back.

It was mostly good apart from some of the abuse given to the Irish fans amongst us by just a few people.

The guy actually went and challenged the guys who were abusing the Irish and could barely get a coherent response from them.

At the end of the game he came shook everyone around him hand's and said best team won.

Good atmosphere and pretty much impeccable behaviour from what I've seen.

Was just like an OF game without the hatred from the support. Was lovely to see the fans mingling etc.

Scotland had the first half and Ireland the majority of the second. The magic from Maloney was the difference between the sides.

Maloney v McGeady was never in doubt anyway. One has the final ball and the other has fancy tricks. Just a sham Sean was plagued by injury or he would have played at the highest level because he actually has it!

Naisnith and Mulgrew were excellent tonight as well. The Skipper wasn't at his best but we were missing Hutton and Morrison who are key players so no complaints. The Irish got luck in the earlier rounds where we never, so we deserved that win tonignt. Can hardly think of a chance created!

.....or better still the SFA concede that the previous redevelopment killed it and go back to the drawing board like Juventus did and come up with a design and stadium more fitting of Scottish fans and big occasions.

Can I just say having read posts above, 'McGeady was never a great player'. Seriously, in the big games he played very little part. I remember wanting to leave him out the side rather than fix him into the system for OF games!

Sean Maloney however, wow. Class act. Gunt has always been right about that player. With Morrison and Hutton in the side, I'm sure it would have been more comfortable.

Go watch the Champions League games under Gordon Strachan, most influencial player by far was McGeady. Set up the most goals, was the best player on the ball. And that is actually factual, if you go by the stats.

Not only that, he has about 50 more assists than Maloney for Celtic, and wee Shaun had the pleasure of playing with Henrik, Sutton and Hartson a lot more than Aiden did.

Maloney is a different kind of player but for saying he has 'no end product', he certainly set up far more goals.

If it wasn't for a career of injuries, Maloney would've played at a much much higher level than he did. Still managed to do not bad out of it even with the ridiculous amount of injuries.

Ability wise on the ball and how he uses it, no one else comes close to Maloney in the Scotland side.

Was saying it tonight, he's the only Scottish player that you coulf describe as having good technique. Would love to see him in La Liga.

McGeady has always suffered for two reasons. The media hyping the lad up and having no end product. You can rally all the stats up you want but Sean Maloney was and will always be the most effective player out the two.

Maloney was plagued with injuries however which hampered him from performing at the very best but thankfully we as the national team have him playing at his best right now. The goal was world class tonight. Had that been Pirlo, it would be going viral across the world.

How can you consistently set up the most goals at all levels for us but have 'no end product'?

Don't need to try and tart up Maloney, I love the wee * as well :icon_mrgreen:
