    Well what for example, if Shaun Maloney's mother wasn't Scottish ?

    Maloney was born in Malaysia and his father is English. He qualified through his Scottish mother.

    He came here as a wee boy and grew up here, and regards himself as Scottish.

    Would you stop him playing for Scotland ?

    I agree it needs heavily tightened though.

    No I wouldn't. I think people have to accept that, people move around, but for different reasons. If your old man is looking for a better life for his family and you move when you are 2 (Podolski), I have no problem with it. If you move to a country at 16 to play football (Deco), and then play for your "new" home, then yes I have a big problem with it.

    So how to get around it? What if FIFA said that you had to live at least half of your life in the country you play for by the time of your first cap? So Deco can play for Portugal when he is 32, Podolski when he is 4 :smiley-laughing002:
