So you genuinely thought that Jinky thought that the SFA were German Soldiers? In that case I fully apologise.

People can have a different viewpoint all they want, as I've discussed with many people, civilly, in this thread.

Do you agree that anti-Irish sectarianism is a problem in Scotland?

Giving the minimum ticket allocation to the Irish is the sensible thing to do for Scotland. As the guy says, it's a derby match and the home team will want as much advantage as possible.

The fact it's on a friday night is pretty worrying. Friday night, Irish fans, Huns in the town, poppygate, Scotland fans, referendum still causing tension.

Would be tremendous to see Scotland fans and Ireland fans unite to kick * out the huns and their union jacks :D If only... IF ONLY!!!!

Honestly think Scotland will win this by 2 or 3 goals.

I thought we'd sold out Celtic Park for this ? Is the Irish FA guy saying we should have gave them to Irish before Scots ?

I was speaking to an Irish guy at CP a couple of weeks ago and he was saying the Irish FA make an * of distributing the tickets (supporters clubs, sponsors etc). Looks like he's trying to pass the buck here.

Looks like I'm right. Here is the statement from the Irish Supporters Messageboard:

YBIG Statement on comments by FAI CEO on Radio Kerry

YBIG users are disappointed to note the comments from FAI Chief Executive, John Delaney, in his recent media appearance.

The Chief Executive stated “this is a derby game, it’s a Friday night in Glasgow and there’ll be tension in the air. To have pockets of Irish fans stuck in Scottish areas is not the correct thing to do”.

YBIG believes that comments such as these are deeply unhelpful and do little more that stoke unnecessary tension. Both sets of fans have impeccable records for behaviour and have received awards from federations and other bodies for the support of their national sides. We expect both sets of spectators to contribute to a superb atmosphere on Friday night.

Once again the Chief Executive has seen fit to blame the SFA for this saga noting “They only gave us 5% of the allocation, telling us the game was sold out when it’s not. It means we’re not able to award tickets to hardcore supporters that we would love to accommodate".

YBIG have clearly proved that the FAI system to allocate tickets spectacularly failed, irrespective of the size of the allocation. Many of the hardcore supporters that the Chief Executive mentions will be sitting with the Scottish supporters are a result of the fact that the FAI have no clear and transparent system in place to allocate tickets. These supporters have acquired “home tickets” for other games due to the same failures in FAI ticketing which occurred here.

In previous statements the FAI confirmed that tickets were allocated to “known away supporters”. As outlined in our previous statements, YBIG have shown that there were fundamental issues with the allocation. This is not the first time this has happened and without significant change it will not be the last.

It is disappointing to note that the Chief Executive feels able to speak in the media on this issue, but was not in position to answer questions raised in a letter from YBIG users. The letter (Appendix 1) raised ten specific questions for the Chief Executive to answer concerning ticket allocation within the Association. Despite being addressed directly to the Chief Executive, the letter was not answered by him. Instead, a reply was received from another FAI staff member. Once again, the Association refused to provide answers to the questions being asked by many supporters.

I think he means that the Irish fans are buying tickets for the Scotland end and had Ireland of gotten more tickets then they could have got away tickets. Your right about his crowd making an * of ticket distribution which does not help matters either. despite all the * on here I would not expect there to be that much bother between both sets of supporters.

Because he's * and no one cares. If there was such an anti-Irish problem in Scotland as the Irish on here make it out to be, I'm pretty sure many Scottish people would know about this guy.

He's not English, he's Irish. Who are you to say what nationality someone is?

Not nearly to the extent that people on here are making it out to be.

It is mostly the Scottish posters who are pointing this out. You are the only one on here trying to tarnish an entire race of people.

I'm heading over and myself and my mates are fully expecting a great night. There has been some * knocking around over here from EPL types worried about Zombies causing bother, but that proves that their ignorance about Scottish football is as general as it gets.

When Scotland come to play in Dublin it's always a great atmosphere, inside and outside the ground.

On a side note, two of the mates went to Wembley for the England game last year and they had a brilliant time.

Some people just like controversy, I suppose.

Almost every Scottish fan on here has said they are angry or upset with them simply because they are two good players that could have played for Scotland but didn't, not one has said it has anything to do with the fact they chose Ireland. People have also pointed out that their friends and family feel the same way.

The only people claiming that Scottish people will boo McGeady and McCarthy because of the fact they chose Ireland is the Irish fans.

I'm sure the Irish national team will be safe from the masked Scots hunting the Irish in the streets.

What's your point? There's always going to be people in every country that have bigoted views towards other countries.

But yes, of course there's idiots that have bigoted views towards Ireland. But then, I bet a lot of them have links to Northern Ireland.

It's just interesting that you are going out of your way to not acknowledge that fact. There is a problem, a big one, it's not the full country, obviously but it is still a major problem. It's better than it used to be but ignoring it's existence helps no-one.

Just because other countries have problems, it does not excuse our own.

My point, that you've been arguing against, is that there are many people inside Scotland that will spew hatred and bile towards McGeady and McCarthy because of there choice to associate themselves as Irish, that doesn't mean all or even a majority. The element is there and everybody knows so.

Deflection of that or indeed blaming 'links to Northern Ireland' is quite shameful. They are our own problems and until people stand up and acknowledge them and don't try and deflect away from them, nothing can be done about it.
